i hear alot of talk of this sled and how you are going to be able to "plugin" an aditional 100-150hp with the use of exhaust systems and programmers. possibly swaping out turbos but nothing else. with all these new stock sleds coming with fantastic 3 year warrantys who is going to lose out? dealers? consumer? CAT? when these things start grenading or having issues either related to the extra HP or non related but are required to be brought in for warranty work.

as the consumer are you prepared to lose your warranty as a tradeoff for hp?

will these modifications be completely undetectable by the dealer? thus costing CAT or your dealer money?

im very curious as to how this works becuase i know everyone is going to have one and everyone is going to modify it.

Maxwell, this is great news for the Doo crowd. even if it is moderately successfull, it will force BRP to throw a little tuning into the E-TEC and hopefully push the 2013 XP into the 180 range :)

I rode a stretched Z1 with the plug and play deal and i think it was 225-250hp. Can't see why it wouldn't work with the proclimb. Not sure what that would do to warrenty but my guess is that it would be void.

ya. thats what im getting at. these things are going to be making big HP with minimal changes. so im wondering how hard this is going to be on dealerships and cat with undetectable modifications.

probably no different than the auto manufactures, i am sure they will have a way of flashing the ecu to see what has been thrown at it, history of its life, ie revs, speed, revs, track speed etc.
will be neat to see though. the manufacturers are always one step up imo. they know what we are going to do to these units and are prepared for it i think.

I'm guessing they will be able to tell. Throw a tuner in a new diesel truck and the dealers can tell. I doubt that the mods will be as easy to just remove and try to claim warranty as it sounds.

i bet they wont be able to tell if its just a tuner,if yur truck is flashed to stock they cant tell chit unless yur truck is equ. with a hard drive or yur a gm w/onstar (onstar periodicly logs in to yur vehicle my local dealer told me),they can only suspect yur chiped if its flashed to stock..

i sure as hell hope i dont have to wait till 2013 for skidoo to catch up to the horsepower gain or i might be jumping ship. They better have that rumored SC1200 mountain doo out for next season. Turbos looks fun, but a supercharger would be an animal for all around riding.

catch up?

your talking about catching up a 2stroke NA hp with 4 stroke turbo hp.......

define catching up?

catching up to HP but gaining 120lbs is hardly catching up.

the sc1200 if it ever exists will weigh the same as the proclimb so might as well switch now.

really wanna doubt that statement

on dodges u can if u know how view the history and if u think a ecm flash nocks everything out of the memory ure wrong

so ford and chevy having just as much electronic gadgets i pretty sure theyll have a datalog for most important engine numbers in the ecm stored

How about this?? Dealer has a stock ecu that can be pulled in place of your modded turbo ecu if any problems arise,,,,sneaky sneaky. Plus problems will probably be minimal on the 4 strokes, or thats what all the yammy 10000 boosted km's claim

i agree there may not be any engine problems but if someones suspension gives out of some electrical issue arrises they are going to want to bring it in for warranty.

What's the deal with turbo yamahas? If the dealer installs do you still have warranty or is it voided? Diesel trucks have tuners that cannot be detected, as far as I know the smarty is one of them.

i like my newly purchased shockwave to much to switch right now :d

personally i would want the supercharger over the turbo... 1 more year hopefully....

Any tuner on a diesel can be found by the tech if he digs deep enough. They check that certain parameters have exceeded stock capabilities.

The dealer might warranty anything related to the turbo, guess you need to talk to the dealer to find out.

Really though, the everyone will have one and everyone will modify it suggestion is quite a broad statement.

Many people have sleds and do not modify them from stock. Many people have Nytro's and do not turbo them (why you wouldn't is beyond me)

Many people also do not turbo their 2 stroke cats and poos. Do the guys who do turbo them have issues with warranty, or do they even care?

Yes this comes with a factory turbo, with progressive boost controled by the ecm so the inital cost to the buyer will be down to start upgrading and modifying.

What Cat would be smart to do is offer their own line of "warranty approved" upgrades like exhaust and ecm mods for "race use" :d. Anything outside their line of products voids the warranty.

Remember the rumoured factory BRP etec turbo on which you void your warranty when purchasing?

How does Yammy do with warranty claims?

I have a hijacked z1 turbo. With it set at 190 hp this things sick on the lake At 250 its wow Back when Alberta got the big dumps of snow there was 3-4 feet on lake isle. My low boost nitro would do about 60 mph to the bar. My stage two nitro would rip but not even close at getting going even with challenger extreme track The z1 would bury the speedo past 100 mph and maintain that speed at just over half throttle. It never stops pulling. Its a short track. Today I was on lake isle with no snow and it's Reving 6000 rpm At 100 mph and wid open the speedo needle goes way past 100 up in the temp gauge area. Snow pro gauge Cat owners know where that is. I had it at 200 hp and must have been doing 125-130 mph not topped put yet either. Take the visor of your helmet before topping this sled out. Now next yr this sled will kick everything stock on the snow. By far. Can't wait to see them on the mountains. It has a protection mode for octane also which is cool. I can't go over 190 hp on premium. With a gallon or two of 111 I run it at 220 and its good. Kinda hard tO blow it up when it de tunes for low octane and warns u. I think it's gonna be a winner but still staying yami for the mountains
