The new 1100 will be sick!!!! Speedwerx has been mapping these things for a few years out east on the Z1's since their introduction. I think they can program up to 4 stages in your computer, the highest was something like 290 hp. Haven't heard of people grenading them out east, lots of them are starting to get some big mileage on them as well so I wouldn't be to worried about the reliability on that end but I'm sure the computer will have a "tell-all" feature so that anyone jacking with it will no longer have warranty, but I wouldn't be too worried based on their history to date.

Cat is really on their game with the 4 strokes. These sleds have a warm up feature that doesn't allow you to go WFO until the sled is warmed up, you can get remote start on them as a factory accessory, as well as the octane protection mode that drew mentioned etc etc. They did their homework, make no mistake.

As a total bonus, the new looks are miles ahead of the Jag Z1 look they had last year although I still prefer the looks of the Doo.

I think Doo would have a winner if they stuck their 1200 in a mountain chassis as well, as I still think the Doo chassis is ahead of the Cat platform by a thin margin.

Really though, the everyone will have one and everyone will modify it suggestion is quite a broad statement.

Many people have sleds and do not modify them from stock. Many people have Nytro's and do not turbo them (why you wouldn't is beyond me)

Many people also do not turbo their 2 stroke cats and poos. Do the guys who do turbo them have issues with warranty, or do they even care?

Yes this comes with a factory turbo, with progressive boost controled by the ecm so the inital cost to the buyer will be down to start upgrading and modifying.

What Cat would be smart to do is offer their own line of "warranty approved" upgrades like exhaust and ecm mods for "race use" :d. Anything outside their line of products voids the warranty.

Remember the rumoured factory BRP etec turbo on which you void your warranty when purchasing?

How does Yammy do with warranty claims?

I agree and disagree. everyone who owns a gas truck does not turbo it or super charge it, but on the other hand, there is a huge percentage of diesel owners who buy tuners for their trucks for the simplicity of getting the added power at very little cost, voiding their warranties. I agree not everyone mods their sleds, but when its so easy to get power, like a tuner its a no brainer guys will be doing it. there is a big diference between turboing a nytro and buying a tuner for a machine that already has a turbo.

The only turbo yamaha that has warranty is the 180 kit for the nytro if installed by your dealer. All other turbo's on yamaha are not warratied by yamaha. With the fact that AC is on their game with 4 strokes and wont move without being warmed up, my 03 rx 1 won't rev up till the light goes off indicating you are up to temp. All of the manufacturers are close in what they build all have technology the others don't. And all have their place in the market place. They all build a good product and it is all personal choice. They also all have their draw backs and down falls and everyone is aware of them even if they don't admit it.

There still is no 2 stroke 800 with more hp then the etec. Or power to weight ratio.

Check the ac 800ho the last time I looked it was in fact a few lbs lighter than the etec with the same hp. Its a good competitive market out there and competition is good for the consumers. It should be interesting to see what doo brings to the table in 2013 after the pro and proride.

doo has 8% more track on the snow and about 12% more lug in the snow so same hp and weight guess who performs better in the deep for 2012

well according to the arctic cat website, they are claiming 160+ hp. no weights on their page, but with some searching, found a european page with the specs. their lightest 800 153 mountain sled weighs in at 207kg, which is 455lbs and BRP is putting the 800 154 at 454 lbs. so virtually identicle weights and HP. should be good

Your right there. 16" tracks help the doos bigtime to perform and maybe out perform stock to stock. If you dont want to mod them they are a great choice. For those who want to tinker with pipes or spray or boost. The cat is a easy choice. Pipe a doo and lose power. Pipe a cat and gain. big bores on cats are good for the same amount of miles as two 800etec short blocks. There some real toughness and Integrity in the cats engines. I ride yami and put on 2000-3000 miles with 7 m8 turbos. A few dragon turbos. Those m8s are tough and reliable

You guys keep forgetting that HP is just a calculated #, so it means nothing. Trying to compare some peak HP value of Doo to Polaris to Cat is like trying to compare apples and lettuce because none of them make the same power at the same peak, for the same amount of rpm.

HP is torque X rpm, so where your motor makes torque is the key, how much it makes and for how long are the main things to consider. having extra track or extra weight means nothing if the motor isn't making power until 8500 rpm, and you're clutched for peak @ 8200 rpm, and the power curve is very narrow.

So you can debate all day on the internet, then go out on the hill tomorrow and get spanked anyway.

I was in at "a" dealership, no names mentioned, and they said they will carry extra ecu units in store so you can mod the new cat turbos and if you blow it up they will scan the in store ecu so that you can get warranty still. Pretty cool of them hey?

I don't think they'll be doing that now that you've posted it on the internet.....

I was in revy a few weeks ago and I think they had a sc1200 doo there with the test team. A big group of new doos were coming down as we were going up and they stopped just down the trail from us for a bit and when they started up the sleds to take off one of them sure did sound mean and different from anything else Ive heard. Talked to Dan Treadway at glacier house and he said they were there testing new doo's all week
