I would go with the e-tec but the SP has a now proven 800r with all the suspension updates so it should handle better than a 2010 stock for stock. I still think the warrenty would make up my mind. It would just suck if they do become problematic like the 07's, warrenty or not your missing riding days and someone has to pull your broke a$$ out of the hills.

I rode 3 days in Valemount last weekend. One of the guys in our group has a 163 X with the E-Tec and he was outclimbing everything in the deep, baseless powder, and this was the first time it was ever ridden. I can't imagine how that thing is gonna work after the ECU break in period is done. For reference we had an '08 XP with a Split Second 880 in it; running a 174" track that was able to stay close the STOCK 163 E-Tec when we got into any serious deep powder climbing.

Was his park brake on bro?

1 part machine, 2 parts rider. Obviously the guy on the 880 couldn't ride. Yes I agree that the etec is awesome, but it's not a mod sled slayer.

Resale could be a consideration...Unless it turns out to be a POS the etec will give you better resale on the backend...newer technology will sell faster and prob at a bit better buck. If the 5% power increase is real can you get that cheaper with aftermarket mods on the ptek - prob need pipe, ypipe, reeds...so prob not. Although depends what price differential is.

Personally I don't think the etec's will be much over the 800r...5% power dif (if that's not BS)...everyone on the new poos and etech say they are the greatest thing going best sled they ever rode etc etc but time will tell. Maybe i'm just jealous haha. I'm on an 860 now so can't wait to run it up against some etechs and poos :d

my thought was that if you do go for the etec, seems like it it would kind of limit the mods you could do for extra ponies,

i figure i would go with the ptek and use some the extra cash for some mods and the extra year of warranty. :)

what is the price diff?

thats exactly what i was leaning towards. with the cash saved you can get a can/clutchkit/vent kit/wrap/some billet wheels/quick clickers/tunnel stiffeners/gas rack and the extra warranty.

if you end up with the ptek get an hps can i love mine long time LOL
