2011 f 350 or 2010 dodge 3500

Trying to decide on which truck to purchase. I am coming from a 08 f 350 diesel which has terrible fuel mileage. I have heard the new 6.7 ford motor is getting pretty good mileage and has a lot of power. Does any body have any experience with the new fords. I will be using the truck as a daily driver in the city but take frequent trips to the mountains in the winter with a 4 place enclosed trailer

i have no ford experience but my dodge gets decent mileage and pulls very well, pulling a 12k trailer at 36degrees outside in the mountains last week i averaged 11-12mpg and i only have 10k on my truck. the 10 dodge is a very nice truck compared to previous years. heres a few pics of my truck and it still got decent mileage before i did all the deletes to it.

Job 2 Ford 2011's will have 400HP and 800 pounds of torque. Current 2011's get a reflash at end of this month. I love my truck and I was getting 21 US MPG empty. Oh yah with the reflash its supposed to get 2% better fuel economy.

I think it just comes down to preference...never heard much bad about either one probabely because they are still new...lol. How much are you willing to spend...I have been looking at the 2010 dodges and can get a full load for somewhere in the low to mid 50's and all the 2011 Fords I looked at with a full load were 70,000 +. For that kind of money the choice is easy for me...if I buy it will be another Dodge. I would have tried the Ford but can't see it being worth that much more $$$$.

Check out the new 2011 chevy/gmc's. They are pretty sweet and i know guys with 2010's and the yget good mileage. They are claiming that you'll have a range of 680miles on a tank of fuel. I talked to a buddy that works at a chevy dealership and his buddy works at a ford dealership. So they both took out 2011's and then swapped to compare and they bot hsaid that the new chevy/gmc had more power and comfier than the new ford.

Yah Ford MSRP might be in the $70's but you wont pay that. Youll get one in mid 50's as well.

Took both trucks for a test drive today. Both very nice trucks. With the ford I was averaging 12.4 L/100 km on the highway driving 110km and 14.4 in the city. The dodge I was averaging 17.8 L/100km between city and highway. Better mileage with the ford and I think that the 800 pounds of torque with the ford will make towing a little better only thing is sticker on a new king ranch 350 is 69000 + 2 taxes. I can get the dodge fully loaded with every option available for 58000 + 2 taxes.Don't know what to do. If both were same price it would be the ford I think

i think another deciding factor would be on how long and how many miles you put on your trucks< because no one can argue that hands down the cummins will outlast any other engine out there by far. as a tech i have seen many trucks come in with 500000+ km on them, and the latest is a 06 dually with 676000km and is a good cust, he has not done any engine work to that truck yet, although it is starting to get a little play in the thrust brgs but it should. lol

The fuel guage indicates 12.4 mpg, (american) hand cal. 13.5 imperial, that's not too bad. The big thing, it is so nice to drive, power, handling, the new 6 speed.
My old 6 liter Outlaw was nice, but this thing tops it.

Im getting a little less fuel economy than you but not quite sure on the weight of the toyhauler plus it was pretty windy the day I traveled and I have less miles on truck. I am running 3.55 gears as well. That being said I sure am happy with the truck so far.

I took ,my 2010 3500 for its maiden pull last night...14500lbs on the devon hill. Man what a difference between the 2008 and the 10 the ten pulls way nicer

Made it home tonite, the smoke coming our way is something else. When I left Edson at 2:00 you could see a 1 km if that.
Well the 2011 f350 pulling a 2005 Wild Cat 32 ft weighing just under 10000 lbs got 14.3 Imperial mpg 19.2 liters/100km This was over 5600 km, Long lake to Mt St Helens, to California Red Woods, B.C. Coke. Hwy etc. This truck is a keeper.

I'm with lightening 1000 on this one the new ford and chev have not been proven yet, especially in the winter with the urea system, and the dodge NONE chassis cabs don't need urea to meet emmisions. I looked at the new Chev and I don't like where the urea tank is installed.
I havn't delete a thing yet on my truck and I got 13.5 hand calulated fuel milage towing my travel trailer in BC this summer and didn't have to pee in my tank to do it. I'd rather get 1-2 mpg less than have to worry about the avaliabilty and cost of urea.

Got a couple of the new Fords the other day at work. The first one died and went back to the shop within about 6 hours. I wasn't the one using it, but apparently it had some engine problems (not sure exactly what) and the mud built up underneath bad enough that the transmission wouldn't shift out of drive (i.e. shut it off - won't start again).

Claims the new 6.7 Ford has similar mileage as the chev which are both better than the dodge.

I'm with polcat on the 4 motors in 9 years but I have not heard a lot of negativity about the new motor like when the 6.0 and 6.4 came out (flame thrower). Do you still have to pull the cab to replace the injectors?

Urea bites but I'm sure someone will figure out how to delete it. I'm sticking with my '07 for a few years yet, no urea of DPF!

Check out that comparision done very well on the three shows mpg pulling 10000 lb trailer etc. According to them the ford comes out at top the gm has the best drivetrain and the dodge has the nicest interior. The dodge might not have that urea injection but i believe it still has the diesel particle filter and thoes are a issue in themselves plus you wont get the milege out of them as they have to burn extra fuel to keep it clean. I am a 100% chevy fan but have been in the new ford and it is super nicer quite and i believe it is the best out of the three for overall built solid truck and rode well for a solid axel truck. The only reason why if i bought a new truck this year i wouldnt buy it is the motor is un proven and i would not want to be a test pilot wait a year or two and see how it holds up pretty risky buying a truck with a 100% brand new in house designed diesel even the duramax when it came out in 2000 was a isuzu marine engine so it had been a proven design. But as far as which truck is the best not putting that into the equation i agree with the pick of the ford i hate to say it but they do make the best hd diesel truck and that is coming from someone who owns a duramax.
