+ or - 10HP does not matter. independant dynos will vary from advertised.

also 10hp can be soaked up pretty quick by rider alone.

true enough

i do agree that we need to see a 180+ HP machine....

i do like that they finally offer a sled that you dont HAVE to change everything on - skis, bars, decals etc...finally listened to the consumer

i guess the trouble will be that doing all that stuff doesnt make it your own....now everyone's sled will look the same!!! hahha!

i have a 2010 and i picked up the last carb 2010 163 in alberta probly. thankgod i did.

like really you guys are so excited about this crap thats been on the aftermarket for YEARS.

4 wheel kits!!! holy smokes!!

decals!! WOW

skis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no way! because those didnt exist already?

etec? been around now. looks good but not for me.

clean handlebars? uhhh ok....mine looked like that in about ten minutes

not saying its not a good package..because it deffinetly is.

they have basically just taken what we have been doing to the xp machines for the last 3 years and made a factory version.

Hahaha. man you're really worked up about this, huh kid.
Can you belive they are selling 4 wheel kits and a narrow skistance as a new options. Boy people are suckers

I know you just bought a 2010, so I know you are a BRP fan, and I ask this not to be rude so please dont take it that way, but way are you so negative over these new models? I see some great new features, and honestly for someone like me, I truly like the idea of the manufacturer adding the 'common aftermarket items' as you refer to them. Heck there is hardly enough time to ride as is, the last thing I want to be doing, is adding items to make the sled better.

The way I see it is different and yet similar to the way you see it Maxwell. I see it as a manufaturer listening to their customers, and building sleds that the customers would build themselves...

Sure there is a level of pride that comes from building and adding your own custom components, but for me, if I can buy it and run it out of the box, kudos to BRP from me. I know not everybody will agree with me, but if the majority of customers are doing similar things, then BRP has something here.

Anyhow, just my thoughts...

i agree they listened to the customers. but most every rider out there cann not ride there stock everest to its full potential. me included not even close.

it looks like a good package. not denying that.

i am just truly dissapointed there is not a new powerplant like all the hype is my main concern. anyone who is serious about mountain riding ( i go every weekend ) would like some extra HP without having to mod the crap out if it.

sorry but we have been at 150hp for over ten years like i said before and all we are coming up with is better fuel milage and cool decal packages.

ya totalyy maxwell, i can walk out to my garage and take a pic of 2 xps and an 04 rev that would be the equivalant to the freestyle, the only difference might be the stiffer chassis. all the controls are off the RENTHAL bars that we installed and the gauge cluster would be sweeter if it was just gone and mabey a small digital tack with egt's would be a nice factory upgrade. i would like to see a stock sled some where around the 170-180 mark. that would begin to excite me. one xp is an 860 and the 04 is an 830 so you can see im always looking for a little more power.

You make some good points, and yea the HP thing is pretty stagnant, but I guess I am still impressed with the technology behind it. The ability to work around all the emmissions issues and to NOT LOSE HP is impressive. The diesel industry was not able to pull this off. It took much more displacement to equal the HP of past engines, so I see some major engineering here. I dont want to have to mod a sled either, but for a newb like me, I has all the power or more than I utilize.

actually it's 155 + HP not 150......;)

they still havent released the Summit DROP sled...unless it's the freeride
something tells me it isnt though.....

also have to remember that its only makeing 155 +/- (they always lie) at sea level, up at about 8000 feet that could be about 130 ish horse power

It doesnt matter what brp comes out with....they still suck without full out EFI and there shitty clutch set-up....that's the recipe for handling boost and without it they'll still be at the bottom watchin me go over the top in 2011...hahahhaahha

But on a serious note in a couple years Brp will figure that out too and then we'll see a bad-ass sled. I hope they introduce a 4-tec summit for 2012.....be nice to see some yellow mixing it up with the blue in the 4-stroke turbo scene.

most manufactureres would kill to have brp sales levels. its not a matter that they dont know what they are doing. they have their market and its EVERYONE that doesnt need a turbo. i love my carb sleds and hate to see it dissapear. they are consistant and trouble free.

less electrical and mechanical systems 100km in the backcountry the bettter for me.

yes a 1200 summit would be excellent. then i could have my freeride sled and my turbo.

brp clutching works good for whats required. easy adjustability and it doesnt have issues now.

keep in mind the turbo crowd is small in comparison.

look how many summits there are on the mountain.

A turbo nytro does not compare,,, $13Gs for a doo or $18000 to $20Gs for the boosted nytro,,, throw a carbon fiber on the XP andf I will out run your boat anchor:p

I love backcountry riding.... there are so many variables from terrain to skill to different snow conditions to different riding styles....... there is no 1 ultimate sled they all have there pros and cons for sure...

lots of good points made by many, but I agree I dont want pretty,,, I want the HP, performance and reliability.... oh ya and a real LOUD can,,, that adds HP right;)

Anyways...seems we're all adults its good to see one manufacturer make a good product better, i hope its the trend for all 4 for years to come or what else do we have to look forward to right.
