Kind of a silly thought, but have you let the sled warm up yet? Mine will kick off if the motor isn't warm enough, the RER button just shuts the machine down.

As long as your sled was warmed up properly I would say you might be a little shy on compression. It might be a good idea to check it. A good tip if your sled is'nt warmed up real well and you want to put it in reverse give your machine a little choke and it seems to work like a charm.

Yes, the choke trick is a God send!

First of all, do the simple things; RPM should only be at idle speed, engine must be warm.

The choke trick is tricky; start the machine and with one hand on the choke and the other on the REV button push the button and choke it quickly on and off. We doo this lots unloading the sleds. If the sled is too cold, it won't go into reverse until a little warmed up.

Good luck and enjoy the sled....it's a beauty!

Yup I leave my choke on if I'm going into reverse right away. Works great. If it still doesn't work you may have an electrical issue.

Just was having this problem on the wifes 09 summit 800. Did it act up after you washed it? Have you washed it lately? Had to replace the handle bar switch assembly on hers. It comes complete with all the left hand switches, hand, thumb, highbeam and rer switch. After a wash it would shut down every time you hit the button. Sometimes it would restart right away, other times it might not start for an hour. Checked with a timing light. No spark. Very intermittent. Replaced switch, no issues. This would be a last resort after trying all the other sugested fixes.

Sometimes if you rev it up alittle then hit the stitch it works better on some machines
