i bought my 06 900 new and love it. stock its a bit to throw around. prolly not good for a chick but lots of torque. 2 weeks old and it out climbed 159's and mines a 151 (same rider). had decent luck wit mine. some are good and sum r bad it seems. the 05's were worse for recalls. but a good rule of thumb is dont buy sumthn the first year it comes out. u hear bad motor stories and bad crank stories but not this guy here and im shootn it wit NOS wit 1500 miles. just my 2 cents. look for a lighter sled. even the newer 600's rip pretty good. good luck.

lol oh she refuses to have a stock apex lol, nah she figured on a turbo....thank god she wasnt serious lol. nah im gonna pick up this 06 700 RMK, looks pretty good and i like polaris

I like all sleds, and I think your making a good choice 700cc lighter sled, and she can always move up to an Apex...

Ya, for a ladies sled I would probably stick to a 700 RAW. The 900 makes some good power, but it is quite a bit heavier... I have taken about 40 lbs off of my 900 pretty easily, but a lot of that is the stuff that is almost mandatory (can, swaybar, intake, heat shields, etc), there is a lot of tinkering to keep these things running at their peak.

Depending on your budget I would say stick to a newer '07 and up 700 RAW IQ if you want a reliable strong Polaris sled, the 600s and 700s are solid motors. M7s are good sleds too but I dont know much about the Cats...

Happy Sledding :d:beer:

Bought my 05 900 166 in feb of 06 had it for 10 days. Was in Revy on its virgin trip. Rode 3 days suppose to ride 4 days. woke up on the morning of the 4 day at 4am looked out side and all gone. Even the theives wanted to have the best sled on snow. Walked home, no just kidding hitch hicked home. went to insurance company. Paid me out, loved the ride for the 3 days, so went and bought another one. And haven't been unhappy since. put on over 3500miles of 90% mountain ridding before crank broke. Polaris warrenty the hole thing. New pistons and reeds motor mounts, what every it needed. still happy. know going to pipe it and keep on riding it.:d So those that had bad luck to bad, but it happens on all 4 builders. But some people call some units junk. It's because they don't have respect for ather people.:nono: You buy what you like.:) I have always been a polaris junky. Bought around 10 or maybe more in a life time. owned one yami no luck. one doo doo no luke. Own a M6 cat only cat good luke with it and still have it. But is for sale. Its my daughter's ride. But when i am not climming the hiils and chatting with the boys. she parks the M6 and jumps on the 900. And that was when she was 14 years old. So going to pick up a 800 Dragon for her and a good secound for me. If my vibrating 900 boot shacker, back breaker hard to side hiller, over the topper breaks down.:d The 900 is not for the someone that likes to sit on the seat to carve up the hills. And once you get to know how to handle them they don't feel heavy at all. Once all the updates are down they are a wounderfull unit to play with. Have know problem keeping up to my doo buddies, cat buddies and even yammi buddies. Just ride what you like and don't let the disrespectful people get to you. A smart person never calls someone else ride junk. Because some day that might be the unit to drag your ass out of a bad spot.:d And leave the :beer: for off the hill and in the hot tubs.
Have a great day, And to new adventures in the back county, Also think smart read the terrain, And lets all come home safe.

I ride a 05 900 RMK and only thing I ever blow up was my wife's 2007 YAMAHA PHAZER! 1400 miles on a four stroke. Crank gone even with Amzoil in it! Can't say a bad thing about my 900.

I just bought an 05 900 159''x2.4 and it was real heavy feeling the first real ride out on it but after that it feels real good. I just could,nt believe the tourqe that was comming out of this thing. It will easily pull on my friends 08 800 switchback. This sled has a new crank, oversized pto and ballanced real nice. My 600 xc/sp shakes more than my 900. I am told but don,t know for sure myself that my unit pumps out 171 hp with the upgrades.:d

I just got a 2006 RMK 900, 166" . Fresh top end, SLP everything under the hood.
After market clutch (not sure what he told me). This thing is a MONSTER!!! :d
Amazing power at 7000 RPM HOLY CHIT !!! HANG ON FOR DEAR LIFE. Too much sled for me..... Only complaint I have so far is a vibration. Get less at higher RPM's. Not sure the clutch is set up right for here, but from what I have seen so far... AWESOME SLED. :d

Im now up to 3500 miles and running great! going to see how far the big thumper will go before she needs a crank! drive it like you stold it! oh I had to pull a few 800 out this year lol! so all sleds have there problems. I will drive anything that will get me up the hill and over the top. I love to side hill the big pig! the 900 makes torque not hp! it has a smaller bore than the 800 but a mile of stroke! knock off about 40 pounds and she can do anything! I LOVE MY 900. if it blew up tomorrow it has lasted more than most sleds. the only reason these sleds got a bad name is because guys like to wine... ask them how there new 800 was last year lol.....as it is getting towed out lol...hear a few guys went through 3 plus engines! I drove my 900 all winter!

I won't call anyone elses sled junk but we had two 05 900's and they both lost their cranks before 1800 miles. If your a mechanic and like to fix your sled all the time then buy one. If you want a pull and go sled then buy something else.

I'm approaching 500 miles on my 05 900 166 so far this season... pull rope and ride.

After 5 mins ride time, you don't even notice the vibration any more..... and this thing PULLS:d:d:d

This is too much sled for most women out there!!! The only other mountain sled I have been on with more jamb was the 1000 Ski Doo, but both were a handful. The 06 700 is just a smaller version of the 900. If you want a Polaris 700 buy 07 or newer it is in a different chassis, that is much easier to ride.
