2003 Honda 650 Rincon

friend of mine just bought this quad with 4800 km, drives great in forward, but in reverse in would slip and pop out, an recently just doesnt go into reverse at all...(just grinds) anyone have any idea what would cause it....\

does it need adjustment, oil, new belt etc...

there is no belt its a geared tranny like a car

could be oil im not to sure what it would be never seen the guts of that motor

Did that model have electronic shift? If not then your reverse gear may be chewed up and is just jumping teeth... Or your fork is damaged and doesnt't put it in reverse... Most likely a tranny problem....

it has ecs shift and auto shift...

All Rincons have EPS and AUTO. Its a standard feature.

I'd say your tranny is pooched. Its the same as any 3 speed car tranny. When theres grinding somethings going. Coulda knocked a few teeth off reverse, engagement mechanism could be shot....

One might say that. Sorry to say, but grinding and slipping, it sounds like he's got a project on his hands.
