Maxwell, i know your going to get a lot of opinion's on this and a lot of them are credible and good.
But, your dilemma is not uncommon. I have built many big HP sleds and most exceeded what a 2 stroke turbo can ever make as a recreational sled.
Simply replacing your BRP chain and gears with a Hyvo chain and gear set will resolve your issue, i've ran well over 300hp and torque numbers exceeding 200ftlbs through these with very few gear and chain failures.
The difference is in the manufacturing of not just the chain but the gears. BRP and Arctic Cat both use a process of compressing metal powder at an extreme pressure. The reason is because its cheap and can be done in mass production. This ok for normal to light application but under severe use the gears will wear and the teeth become unproportional causing the chain to bind and eventually break.
Hyvo gears are milled out of a billet and generally go through a tempering process. Expensive but tough. You can also get custom made Hyvo chains for your ratio.

sounds like the general consensus is for HYVO gear and chain where does a guy track this stuff down?

I usually deal with BDX Black Diamond Extreme state side. You could alway contact them and see but Whal brothers might be a better option with Doo.
Or you can contact BorgWarner them selves and they can direct you.

I had a catastrophic failure on my 800 cat turbo with the 15 wide chain. It was about $1500 repair and the hyvo chain / gears were then installed from BDX. As already mentioned they are highly recommended. Did you check with Fowler what Blister is using for that chaincase?

I don't know if the belt drive can handle a hard lock up of the brakes after hard throttle - I've heard it can shred the belt cogs off or wreck a sprocket

Depends on the size of the top gear and how well the belt is wrapped around it. Some aluminum gears have know to fail on the splines but the only ones I know of have been from the competition or if the bolt backed out from failing to use thread locker.
