Check the big yellow wire coming from the ignition switch for power when in crank. No power = Ignition switch issue, if it has power, then everything in the column is fine
If it's got no power, jumper one of the big red wires to it and it should crank. (use a good size wire for a jumper)
The other thing is make sure the switch is "clocked" right, there's plastic teeth on it that need to be in the right position when installed, if you're a tooth out it could make it where you have to turn it hard to get it to crank but the rest of the positions of the key should feel kinda different as well.
