20 850 s/c

Haven’t really seen too many posts from guys who checked a 20. So thought I would post up some pics and observations after my first ride.
It’s a 163. 2.6
I added a cat Magnetic tether, a polaris front Bumper and skid plate USB handlebar bag, small Burandt bag, mountain addiction can,

clear Vinyl Wrap and ice storm scratchers.

This is my first AXYS chassis and absolutely love how it works and handles. Power seems very Good.

At 100 kms now. I did have a couple small things happen and want to hear from guys with the same Sled

1–apparently the track needs to be very tight. I had two instances where I was climbing and the track locked momentarily where the belt squeeled. The only thing I can come up with is the track crawled over the drivers and forced the track tight and stopped the secondary for a split second ??????? It did not ratchet
Will be tightening the track a bit.

2— the snow in Mcbride was stupid deep and real dry. A couple times the engine over revd where snow must have gotten on the belt. Are guys running frog skins on every hood vent ? Is this a thing for this chassis. Have never had it happen on my other stuff

3–. Lastly. I have to hold the throttle open slightly when it’s hot for it to start. If I don’t. And just pull it won’t start when hot. ?????

Anyone else experience any of this

Thanks Higgins. Yes. It works in that deep stuff for sure. Just have a couple small things to figure out. Looking forward to getting this thing out of break in mode

I have same sled jus dif colors. I'll be going on the first run with her next week to Revy I'll let ya know if any of these come up.

I had a 2017 Axys 800 for 2 seasons and never had any belt slip issues or track issues. Pumped to try the 2020 8fiddy

Love the colours on your 8fiddy. I rode with a 20 850 2.6 163 all weekend in McBride also. Sled worked awesome and didn’t see any of the things you noticed. You do need to run the track pretty tight with the stock drivers.

Nice looking sled. I dont ride much deep stuff but I thought about putting the frog skin kit on hood to keep snow out.

I put the magnetic cat tether on too. Way nicer then stock ones. Dont forget to get a 850 adaptor if anyone else wants to get one

Check your track tension right away. And ensure u have what u need to do it on the hill. Talked to a guy with a Kaos and he had to tighten his when he got to the cabin at Renshaw.

Thanks Niner. Good to know. The only one I am concerned about is where the snow is getting to the clutches. As u know it was headlight deep so she was pretty much buried the whole day. And I may be doing a driver swap if this is how the stock

I have to run frogskinz on my '19,.. I also put silicon on the inside seams of the belly pan under the pipe to keep powder from coming in.

Yes definitely shine a light from under the belt pan area up by the shock/rear a-arm mount and silicone it up good. The full belly pan helps seal this up too. Also if u look down from front of sled where pipe comes off y-pipe. The plastic joins the bulk head aluminum. I always seal that up with tin tape from the inside below the pipe.

I have a 2018 850 and I was advised to silicone the air box as well, this was also recommended for all the axys models. and thanks guys for the advise on other areas to look at to seal up.

That makes sense now With all the snow hitting pipe and steaming up under the hood, any gaps In the air box will pull that steam into throttle bodies. That certainly won’t help with the hot start when I stop
Will be doing that fix this weekend .

What’s the difference between the stock drivers and aftermarket. ? Are the Avid going to fix this issue ?

Also make sure your clutch side panel is closing up tight. My '19 wasn't and would let snow in

Avid or Powderfreaks can help. I had some Frogskins because i couldn’t keep my goggle bag from getting wet. Also down by my belt drive I need to smooth out with some silicon. Just in the process of adding a full Lime Nine wrap, as a first timer it is an undertaking.

What’s the difference between the stock drivers and aftermarket. ? Are the Avid going to fix this issue ?

First of all I think I would run Powder Freaks before Avid. I had Avid on a Pro and they were rough. Second you will need an anti stab kit and the MTNTK one is the beefiest I’ve seen. No bearing issues. This set up will allow you to run the track much looser and the track will turn with less resistance plus it won’t ratchet.

I have a 19 and I am considering doing this as I’m not a fan of a tight track.

The powder freaks drivers are supposed to vibrate less and made in BC. The track has to be so tight on the polaris that your losing track speed. upgrading to a set of drivers and loosening the track is well worth it.
