Yup, if they would have stopped when the first saw the moose and had 10 minute break they would have been better off. I bet they will have more respect next time, glad they didn't have to shoot it.

Pretty dumb on their part to chase in down the trail that far. Could have ended much worse for them. Was watchin it with my 11 yr old son and right away he told me they should have stopped and let the moose go. But at least he didn't empty his clip into the moose.

I believe there is a clip out there of a guy shooting a moose and killing it with his handgun while sledding. It was a big controversy and the US version of Fish and Wildlife was trying to get peeps to report to them if they knew who the riders were.

There was a video with the same situation, dumb ass chasing a moose down a trail. Midway through the video I was hoping for a Wildlife officer to appear at the same time thinking at least they dont have a gun. Low and behold, they're packing a Glock. What is with the Village Idiot mentality and packing heat. The chances of meeting a foreign invader or a terrorist threat (insert paranoid fear here) on a snowmobile trail is pretty remote.

It's amazing that after videos like this people still don't learn. I mean seriously how hard is it to stop as soon as you see it and let it find it's own way off the trail?

Why do you assume someone who is carrying is a village idiot? Quit watching CBC.
Tons of guys on here carry a gun be it quadding, fishing etc. I guess we are idiots?

Nothing wrong with carrying a shotgun or rifle out in the bush. I'd question the usefulness of a handgun unless it were a cannon. Better to have something you can hit what you aim at in a high stress situation. Be nice not to leave a wounded critter in the bush too.

Each to his own, if allowed I'd prefer a handgun. I have holster for my RanchHand but it makes my pants fall down.

I dont watch much CBC, I have 3 rifles and a shotgun at home. I have no problem with hunting, fishing or quadding/sledding. All noble pass times. I guess what angers me is the stupidity of instigating/ chasing animals with a machine and pulling out an ineffective gun on the animal and emptying the clip. (That was from a previous and very simular video.) If confronted by the authorities, I bet they would say they were just having fun.

Moose just need there space. In revy this weekend we ran into a big bull and he stopped dead when we came on him. Looked at us and slowly walked away. Have a quick beer and let them go on there own time. Safer for all

He chased that moose on purpose. He should get his a$$ kicked as hard as possible. The moose survives a cold winter, wolves, is covered with ticks, clearly stressed out and this dipsh$t pops a round off to boot? As far as I'm concerned he didn't get near what he deserved.

As said at least he didn't get trigger happy and shoot it. Should have backed off right from the start though and given it space and time. We're the ones in their environment.

They eventually leave. At least all the ones I have come across. It depends on the terrain; steep banks on either side of the road and they don't like it as it isn't comfortable for them. Put that together with the threat of the sled "pushing them" and they get a little stressed. Some have taken their own sweet time to find a place to get off the trail and then they go into the bush 30' and stand and watch you go by.

They are such a majestic animal, I don't know why someone would want to push or chase them down a trail. Normally, in our neck of the woods, when there are moose around, there are wolves around and if the moose gets run down and tired from the sled "chase", they are very easy prey for the wolves. I hate it when I come across a moose carcass on the trail that very obviously the wolves have killed it. But then again, the wolves have to eat also!
