Blue River B.C.

Two people have been killed in an avalanche near Blue River, B.C., close to the Alberta border.
Kamloops Search and Rescue (KSAR) say the two people were snowmobiling and were part of a party of seven people.
KSAR manager Alan Hobler says his team has been called to assist Wells Gray Search and Rescue.
Crews are currently on their way to the site of the avalanche.
There are few details available at this time, but we will update this story when more information is confirmed.
Twelve people have now died in avalanches in Western Canada so far this season.

Glad to hear the one's in Radium have been found and are well. I was there all weekend and the avy danger didn't seem too awful. Had to pay attention of course, but the snow seemed pretty safe up Forster.

Sad news abut the Blue river guys, my condolences to all friends and family.

Two snowmobilers are confirmed dead and a search effort is underway to find a third reported missing following two separate avalanches in B.C. yesterday.
The search for the missing man was launched Tuesday morning near Mount Mackie, west of Castlegar, in the province's southern interior.
Sources tell CBC News that after the man failed to return home on Monday, his family and friends launched their own search and found his snowmobile near a debris path, indicating there had been an avalanche.
Ministry of Transportation officials made sure the site was safe Tuesday morning before search-and-rescue teams, with dogs, were permitted to go in around 11 a.m. to try and locate the missing man.
[h=2]2 confirmed dead near Blue River[/h]Earlier on Tuesday, officials confirmed two snowmobilers died Monday in an avalanche near an unnamed peak about 30 kilometres southwest of Blue River. Five other snowmobilers in the group survived the incident near Wells Grey Provincial Park.
Efforts to recover the bodies were expected to resume on Tuesday morning, once the avalanche conditions had been assessed.
"We couldn't go up in the dark," said Alan Hobler from the Kamloops Search and Rescue (KSAR) team, which is assisting Wells Grey SAR on the efforts.
[h=2]2 overdue snowmobilers found safe[/h]Meanwhile, in a third search west of Radium Hot Springs, near the Alberta border, two overdue snowmobilers were located safe and sound by the Columbia Valley Search and Rescue team.
The two men were spending a weekend in a cabin about 50 kilometres west of Radium Hot Springs, in an area known as the Forster Creek drainage, and failed to return home as scheduled on Sunday or Monday.
[h=2]Fatal season[/h]So far, 12 people — all but one were snowmobilers — have been killed avalanches in B.C. since early December.
But despite the deadly toll, the number of people killed in avalanches in Canada has been declining in recent years.
The last five full years on record saw an average of 9.8 fatalities per year. But for the five years before that, the average was 14.2, and the five before that saw an average of 15 people killed by avalanches annually.
