I am going to swap tracks and was under the impression that I would need different drivers for the clearence. The pitch is the same, but stock drivers are 10 tooth. Would I need to go to 9 tooth or 8 even for the 3 tenths of an inch of track paddle difference?

I would go with extroverts also. I think you are less likely to have problems with them and you can run your track looser.

I went 2.4" with 8 tooth Avids and there is lots of clearance in there still. I would say you would need at least a 9 tooth to give you adequate clearance.
