No dont Modman says BORE them for best results.

i cant beleive i am even responding to this....but its summer and i am bored.

modman SAID...if the cylinders are out of round...damaged...or some other issue...THEN have them bored to clean them up and true them. then RENIC

IF the cylinders are found to be OOOOOK then he may use the SAME cylinders and have them HOONEEEDDD which would be MUCH CHEAPER.

i tried to use capital letters on the important words. i hope you are getting this through your head

boring a small amount will NOT see any gains ( MINIMAL IF ANY )

Make sure you get the cylinder touch honed along with the new rings.

I agree...just a light hone will help your new rings seat and your engine will make more power for a lot longer.

put new rings in both sides

If you are on a limited budget and your pistons are in good shape you might be able to just hone the cylinders lightly and install new rings and gaskets.

If you plan on keeping the sled I would install new pistons and rings if your cylinders and crank bearings are in good condition. Sometimes the cylinders develope small cracks between the small exhaust ports and the main exhaust port...then you have no choice but to have the cracks welded, the cylinder machined and replated with nikasil (or exchange them for reconditioned ones). You could also sleeve these cylinders but I would rather do the welding, machine and replate method unless you are building a full out drag only sled. The replacement pistons from Polaris are better than the ones they came with (coated skirts and hardened dome) so that is something for you to consider also.

Good luck with your summer project!
