Rumour has it!!!

I think there was a post here a while back alluding to the HP increase out of the Cat 800 for 2011 or 2012.

I believe that horsepower number pertains to the Turbo ZL1. I am not an Artic Cat fan so I could be wrong.

4 stroke turbo, not 2 stroke stock. If it was a CF 8 making that power you would have heard about it 11 months ago.

The 800 HO Proves its Power!
So far the CFR 800 has taken top 800 class grass drag wins at Hay Days in Forest Lake, MN,
the New York SnowBash & the NSDRA grass drag in Jesup, Iowa. This is just a start to the
exciting season ahead as we get to see the true potential of the 800 HO unfold.
An Independent 3rd Party, DynoTech Research, recently ran a production 2010 800 HO straight
from the assembly line and the results were outstanding! 163.1 horsepower at 8100 RPM.
Industry leading 800 class horsepower!
As the experts have professed and the chart shows, the power is smooth and consistent from
low RPM to high RPM. As Kent Lester from SuperTrax put it, “believe us, throttle response is
immediate and its power supply is as deep as the Grand Canyon. From Top to Bottom, this
mill’s power curve graphs out well above the old 800, and when you dip into the throttle, you’ll
notice the difference in a second.”
So what does this all mean? It means that Arctic Cat delivers on the promise of Industry
Leading Horsepower. We have the highest horsepower 800, which is the heart of our M Series,
F Series and Crossfire snowmobiles. We also have the highest horsepower 2-stroke with our
1000 engine. Last but definitely not least, the highest horsepower production snowmobile with
our Z1 Turbo 4-stroke engine producing 177 HP!
It also means more sales. We know that snowmobilers like performance; they like to go fast and
they like horsepower! Now you have the proof, our 800 HO delivers on all of these. So follow
these steps to make sure everyone knows Arctic Cat is top dog this year:

That's just Arctic Cat Marketing hype^^^^^^^

A truly independent dyno test of a SHOWROOM sled right off the floor Crossfire 800 only made 159 HP, and it wasn't Dynotech and it was an AC dealer (so they are not trying to undercut AC). You'll have to forgive me if I don't believe the hype.

The thing is is that you could take 5 sleds all the same model and get different dyno numbers from all of them.

Exactly......Altitude, relative humidity, air temperature, the type of hook up, fuel used, the dyno calibration, how well the clutch is set up………lots of variables all of which can have influence on the outcome.

LOL whoops, just went back and re-checked the #'s, sorry, the 800 CF made 156 HP, not 159.

Notice the BSFC values, very much where you'd want them to be IMO.

I know what you are saying Glen but I would really like the BSFC values from Dynotech to compare, because this is true blue factory specs at mid 5's and low 6's, easily trailable. Anything consistent in the low 5's on top and you will make a few more peak HP but it's not the same setup as from the factory, so not really representative of what you have on the snow.

anyone got the dynotech BSFC values so we can compare?

Cats hp #s maybe all up and down but the proof is in the pudding. By the way i am yamaha all the way. Go to snow mo days at alberta beach and watch the green and black kick ass. For flat out drags and modability cats make big power with a bottom end to match 200 cc big bores per side. The doo dos and polaris cant compare to the strenth and integrity of the cats engines. Pipe a cat and gain 15-20 hp pipe a doo and loose 3 hp its the way it is

Mention anything about a 'Cat and you get the same piss yellow trollers piping in. If your so hooked on your doo's why all the interest in any post with a 'Cat in it? I think I know the answer! You're all sick and tired of reading the posts about doo's cause their always about some sorry ass story about being broke down or their motors blown or they bent their tunnel. Best theft proof device for a 'Cat guy is to buy a Ski-doo cover for his sled:alol2:
