175 on a 165

Anybody try and put a 175 track on a 165 yet? I love me freeride but I sure miss the 170series length. I'm thinking of just bolting my 165 skid up to a set of 175 rails, gear it down a bit and voila, 175 expert. Am I missing something or should it really be that easy? I know a proper 175 skid would mount further back on the tunnel but why wouldn't this work?

You will need the 175 drop brackets and the rear suspension.

Other than that it should be good to go.

I'm gonna stop at Turps and take some measurements tomorrow but my thought was to just drill holes in the linger rails where the 165 rear scissor would mount, or you think that'll leave too much rail behind that point and be easier to bend?

With a set of ice age 174 rails and a track it’ll mount up,with your 165 skid. If you want to change the rear arm, shock and drop brackets you can use stock 175 rails.
i do have stock rails and a 19 tooth top if interested

If you order XM Ice Age Rails the centers will work out for the 165 to 175 change over I believe. Baker did my 17 165 conversion. He might be able to help you out.

You got Darryl to put a 175 on your 165 using the new g4 174 rails from ice age or did you go back to the 174 xm track?

One of my buddies went to a 174 XM track on his 18. As far as i know he only changed track and rails with the ice age xm rails.

Thanks for the info, I get the rail situation, but for tracks, is the t3 174 not a 3" pitch and our g4 tracks are 3.5" pitch so wouldn't a guy need new drivers as well?

Yes you would.

It started out as a 165 and I had all of the parts minus the rails already.

I ran the 174 on my xm without changing driver size!! No chaincase mods either

Do you just ran the 2.86 stock drivers with the 3 inch pitch track !

Catman10 is running 8 tooth drivers and 3” 174 on his T3. Works great.

Absolutely on a T3 with extended case .

On a xm with 3” you need 7 tooth drivers. 3” pitch. Not sure if tracks went back to 2.86. But most the old ones 3” pitch. Its very tight with 7 tooth also.This was before factory 3” of course. The 3” sleds have longer chaincase.
