Has anyone installed a 156 x 3" extreme on a 155 Pro ? Just wondering what needed to be done, as far as bigger wheels or anything else. I know drivers would have to be done if going to 3" pitch as well. How much clutching or gearing had to be done ?

Thx

I got one on my 2011 pro 155. I like it so far. I did 7 tooth drivers and chain case mod with the c3 belt drive. I am still playing with the clutching as I am only pulling 8000rpm. So far so good in my books. If you would buy my pro 163 you wouldnt need a 3" lol :D

Just still thinking outloud.... :)
Installed a 3 inch 156 on my 2013 rmk pro last spring.Lots of work with seven tooth drivers and a anti stab kit.
Had to lengthen the rails 1 inch to get enough adjustment and cut 3inches off the front of the rails to keep them out of the drivers. har it out in Blue River last week and it works good,no clutch work yet but installed a TKI belt drive last night and geared it down just a little.Ill see how it works now and then play with the clutch springs if I think it weds it.

Hate spell check,I meant to say that I'll change the clutch springs if it needs it.Also with the 3 inch I had to add scratchers on the skis to get it to run cool enough on the trails

Good point i am also mounting scratchers on the skis to keep the temps down on the trail. If it still runs warm I gonna do a larger U cooler for next season.

300 miles on my 2014 pro with 156 X3. Sled is stock other than track and Kmod skid. First thing i noticed is that it runs way hotter on the trail. My 2012 155 was usually always around 125-140 max and the 14 with x3 is 165-190.(Both with scratchers down on freshly groomed trail.) Second thing was CRAZY traction compared to the stock track on the 12(i did the f-bomb track mod on that sled) First trip was a bit of a learning curve as the track made the sled handle a lot different. Seemed way harder to ride in technical situations. It felt like there was a lot more ski pressure and was pushing more compared to stock. Everything was happening a lot quicker as well because I was moving forward rather than spinning. I came home from that trip kind of on the fence as there was good and bad. Kmod skid was set up to Kevins instructions as far as limiter strap, shock preload and compression dampening( took skid directly from 12 and put it in the 14). I installed RSI Burandt bars(2'' lower then stock), and let my limiter straps out 1 hole and switched the coupling block from 3 to 1 for the next trip and it was a totally different machine. Now I was in a totally different location from the first trip with a little different snow conditions but all I can say now is that I am 100% sold. Sled felt way lighter on the skis and still maintained exceptional climbing ability. I could easily out climb a 2010 M8 with 162 CE 2.5. I have the stock clutching for now and was only pulling 7900-8050RPM so I'm sure there is room for improvement there. I do feel that it probably could benefit from lower gearing as well as I could smell belt and pulled a few cords while riding hard for extended periods. Over all after a bit of set up for my riding I'm confident that this track is the real deal for backcountry riding and will most definitely take my riding to the next level. 1 other thing to note was that while climbing in approx 2' of fresh i was getting 38-40 mph track speed.
Cheers

Not sure what year your sled is, but I just did this to my 2014!! I did the 7 tooth 3.0 avids with stock rails cut 1/2" forward of center of the stock limiter strap bar hole. I then replaced the limiter strap bar with an anti-stab kit and attached the limiter (dual) straps to it. In the rear of the skid I went to 8" wheels with 1/2" offset axle and have approximately 1" of adjustment left. As far as clutching goes...I talked to Steve at MDS and he recommended a silver (drilled) button head screw with one washer per arm (approx 66.2 grams total) in the middle of his weights with a 100/340 primary spring and the black/purple Team Secondary spring. He was spot on - I was holding 8100-8200 in the deep stuff. I am going to add a Delrin washer to the secondary to speed up the backshift a little. Worked awesome!!
