Currently they are logging in the hasler also. Road radio is a must as far as i am concerned. It is a small road. You will not be driving those logging trucks into the ditch. The ditch is not a option for them. There are signs posted for the new RR channels at the begining of each road (you only have to change channels twice).

What's the radio frequency for the Hassler road? Any place to rent a radio for the weekend in Chetwynd?

Cardinal radio in Chetwynd. Westcoast (km 1-9) is RR 4. Hasler RR 3. 9-42km. I think the unload is 42-45km.

Hasler today. Friday. No new snow since last weekend. Lots of old tracks on not much snow to begin with. Lots of windblown snow and drifts. Broke a little trail. No carnage. Itch scratched. Fooking cold today. There is snow to be had but quite a ways in. I'd say need another 3-4-5'. Grande prairie has as much snow.

Callazon today. Lots of willows on road. Big willows. Can't even touch the blocks yet. Too low in elevation.

I forgot to update when I got back but I rode calzone, oldfriend and silversands on the 2-5th. snow was good in calzone but a couple feet would cover a lot more of the little treetops. we broke trail in old friend( well 2 guys an hour ahead of us did) and it was brutal with willows. plus the 3rd bridge has dissappeared so skipping is mandatory. we never did make it to the first meadow, only went until the trail turns uphill into the trees and said screw it cause it was -30 and starting to lose light. silver sands was pretty beat but still decent.

Rode Calzone today, still needs a few more feet of snow I think, as there is only 3-4 feet of snow. Fun to be had still, but tons of trees showing and little to no base. More skilled riders would most likely find it more ride able though ;)

When you went did you head straight up the trail or did you take the first right? It was my first time there and my group went right but I'm wondering what the riding is like farther down the trail?

We went right into the cut blocks as well. I have only kept going in on the trail once and never made it into the good riding if there is any, I'm not sure what is in there farther. All I know is I want to stay off the trail as much as possible lol.

Hasler is OK. Trail and stuff down low need more snow. Trail in is getting pretty whooped up. Heard the Pine Pass got more snow and stayed colder up top. Silver sands is where it at! Lots of area to play in.

No Sweat. Also it was pretty warm in Chetwynd for the last couple days. 6 above all last night. Looks like PK stayed -1. So things to consider. Higher you go the better the snow. Beaver might be your best bet if it is not too socked in.
