I don't want to see anyone lose their job, but I am a realist and I have seen this before. I work in both Canada and the USA. Both places have their challenges but it is so much cheaper to produce oil and gas down south. Without huge royalty subsidies in Canada, there just wouldn't be any activity at $70 oil.

I hope it doesn't last too long. But if a guy had the balls, there is some real money to be made with the Majors at historically low prices right now.

One of the first things to come off will be the toys.

$17,000 sleds and $80,000 trucks. I think we all need a reality check!

It's not $17 and $80 g toys that cause the problem, it's the dept load too many have to service. That's where the reality check needs to be!! Trust me I do my part to keep the wheels of our economy rolling, but only if I have the cash. Make some, save some, spend some..
I'll never forget what Ralph Klein said when he took over as leader of PCs. We can't have a $1.00 coming in and $1.50 going out. Needs to change.. It's short term pain for long term gain and man it works good if you can live by it.. Not a big deal when things are smokin along but sure is sweet when we get into difficult times.

I would rather pay a bit more for something and pay a little more at the gas pump than live in an unstable ecenomy with people losing jobs left right and center.... but maybe im just selfish.

We will never live in a stable economy. The people in control will never let it happen.

How would 'overpaying' for things stabilize an economy by the way?? Thinking about it, the higher prices for things go, the more unstable the economy seems to get.

More money in... more money out. Im not sure about you but I would rather make more and spend more than make less and spend less!!! Im saying I would RATHER be getting hosed at the pump right now and have things booming. I never said overpaing for things stabilizes an ecenomy. Im saying I wouldn't be complaining if I was paying higher prices for fuel if it wasn't beans and weiners for dinner lol

I wouldn't have expected a salesman to say anything else

But none of that has anything to do with overpaying.

At the end of the day though, the ONLY thing driving the price at the pump is greed. Especially when referring to diesel. Gasoline is very 'elastic' in pricing- it goes up until people park there honda, and the price snaps back. Diesel on the other hand fuels industry. Highway tractors, dozers, and combines NEED to run.

That high price of fuel you want to pay is causing the cost of groceries to go up to. Look at the price of your beans and weiners...

But hey, as long as the government is encouraging the sheep to keep spending borrowed money at record rates, what can possibly go wrong, right??

Looks like your $12000 dollar prediction may come true Travis. Not only for t3 but the other brands also.
I hear and read the " support your local dealer/ supporting dealer etc, and I get it, always my first option, till it becomes evident their Understanding of a reciprocal relationship is gaining and maintaining my full loyalty and giving less in return. Margins in most business, especially product sales, whether cars, house , rec vehicles or boats , and parts and service tend to naturally creep up in good times, understandably. The good times reasonably should extend to all parties buyers and sellers, but unfortunately, fat margins are something that's pretty easy toget used to and hard to let go, just as excessive spending is hard to stop for some consumers when the wallets thick. Unfortunately , the consumers nice incomes can go away a hell of a lot faster than most dealers apcan adjust their expectation of what they are happy realizing from a days operation or a sale of whatever. Some are able to adjust way quicker cause of different circumstance. I hear a lot of finger pointing and talk about guys overspending and not keeping a realistic expectation of the longevity of an up market, and how foolish that is.
Well it works both ways, dealers aren't immune to that either, I just had a interesting conversation with an experienced salesman at a dealership about prices of a product they sell, and listened to his explanation as to why the price is the price. Cause of the overhead, land cost, new building, news service area, huge yard, extra staff for added space, advertising, staff retreats for brainstorm sessions (golf trip) ,Sponsorships , heat, power, etc etc, and I thought, huh, that sounds similar to what everyone is going thru.
But we were all frivolous and spend crazy, :( , check out some of the new dealer digs in the last 10 or so years, seems to me we weren't the only ones affected by a blast of optimism.
But now, I should understand , the price is the price. And expectation of margins are gonna be even harder to change cause sales numbers may drop a bit.
Just an observation, not sayin I understand it all either but so often the two way street only goes one way IMO.

I am with you. For years, I have been loyal to a few exceptional dealers (Mr. R's - Milo, Windsor RV - GP). These were great dealers/great people and great shops. Then the BRP revolution took hold. Go into a Martin's, Stojan's, Turple Brothers', Bow Cycle. They are all the same and they all lost what to me was important - knowledgeable and personable staff, a decent parts department and a great shop. The only one left IMHO is Motortech in Golden.

BRP is a great marketing machine and they sure know how to throw around the Koolaid. $16,000 plus for a new 800 sled is BS. The real price on these t3's is $12,000, they are selling for $13k now and some have sold below that price. I find it hard to believe anyone would order a 2016 t3 for a 30% premium but whatever - good on them.

We live in a capitalist world and if demand says $16,000.00 that is what they sell for, if demand is low then they sell for less. If you don't like it don't buy! Really it does seem like greed comes from manufacturers or dealers but really think about where that greed starts. You ad I!! If we all didn't want the same thing the price would be much different. It's the consumer that is the most greedy, and creates this train wreck, and even when we don't have the cash we are still greedy!!

Sorry it's the FINANCE that drives the prices up. IMO
Plain and simple.

I just bought a T3 174 with 820 kms. The $12,000 prediction is a little high.... its happening now, for less. Some excellent deals out there if your willing to fish and have cash.

Man... Why people are throwing so much money away!!! BEYOND ME! I'm going to be getting rid of mine for 14,000.00 as I have for the past few years... I don't take total baths on my sled.BRAIN dead to sell one for that cheap! Good god. People are so quick on the trigger! Come fall... Someone that didn't snowcheck that wants and x... Instead of one year warranty... They can get three... Save a few thousand... And get the shocks and bars and everything the SP won't have. I can't control the fact people want to throw money in the trash. I've seen the dollars you can get for them private and I'm not about to give away any of my money dumping it for 12 grand or less!

I'm thinking as well that peeps that are dropping T3's for that low are crazy (OR) really hurting. I feel sorry for the peeps that have to sell for that price because of job issues these days. Prices will rebound in the fall. I sold my 2014 163 x with 800 kms in April last year for $12700 and was happy. The T3 is worth another grand resale just because its $1000 more MSRP than a regular X IMO.

The economy is going to get far worse before it gets better. I give the guys credit for getting out of their sled while they still can. That t3 will not be worth $14k next fall. It's far better for those who need the money to pay off bills or whatever instead of waiting. if fact, I would bet that $12 or $13k will be a premium for the sled in the fall.

I sold many sleds after a year or two of riding and did very well too. We are in a different time. Dealers are discounting the unsold sleds by thousands of dollars just to get them out the door - destroying the used market. Why would I buy a year old SP 163 for $12,700 when I can buy a brand new one for $1000 less.

3 years warranty remaining vs 1 year of buying it at the dealer now?

Well I'm sure you know what the sled market is going to do far better than me or snopro... Cheers.
