I don't want to see anyone lose their job, but I am a realist and I have seen this before. I work in both Canada and the USA. Both places have their challenges but it is so much cheaper to produce oil and gas down south. Without huge royalty subsidies in Canada, there just wouldn't be any activity at $70 oil.
I hope it doesn't last too long. But if a guy had the balls, there is some real money to be made with the Majors at historically low prices right now.
One of the first things to come off will be the toys.
$17,000 sleds and $80,000 trucks. I think we all need a reality check!
It's not $17 and $80 g toys that cause the problem, it's the dept load too many have to service. That's where the reality check needs to be!! Trust me I do my part to keep the wheels of our economy rolling, but only if I have the cash. Make some, save some, spend some..
I'll never forget what Ralph Klein said when he took over as leader of PCs. We can't have a $1.00 coming in and $1.50 going out. Needs to change.. It's short term pain for long term gain and man it works good if you can live by it.. Not a big deal when things are smokin along but sure is sweet when we get into difficult times.
