With oil prices expected to hang in around $70/bbl, billions of dollars in Capital will be deferred and unfortunately a lot of work will be lost. With so many already stretched to just make the payments, I wonder how long it will take to see the first $12,000 T3.

I wonder if we'll even need to wait for Spring :)

Why are you so sure this is whats going to go down. Canada is not going to stop or slow down. Its a race to sell as much as possible with saudi and USA. They cant just stop. They can bs its not profitable all they want but it is and always will be. Maybe a slight slow down that will weed out the gougers and useless employees

Gold mining hasn't been "profitable" for a while but their still at it.

With out that revenue from the industry the government is in big trouble, they cant and wont let that happen.

You come off as a real phawkin douchebag to be happy about people losing their jobs. But maybe it's just me.

I think hes just excited thinking about getting a good deal in a down economy, who can blame him? Theres a ton of wolves licking their chops but its not going to happen. At least not for the middle class.

already rigs racking around here....3 for CNRL in the last week, even more in the GP area. projects either being put on hold or shelved in anticipation of $50 oil. it may not last long, but it's happening now.

I don't want to see anyone lose their job, but I am a realist and I have seen this before. I work in both Canada and the USA. Both places have their challenges but it is so much cheaper to produce oil and gas down south. Without huge royalty subsidies in Canada, there just wouldn't be any activity at $70 oil.

I hope it doesn't last too long. But if a guy had the balls, there is some real money to be made with the Majors at historically low prices right now.

One of the first things to come off will be the toys.

$17,000 sleds and $80,000 trucks. I think we all need a reality check!

I was speaking with one our seismic customers that we haul around, and he is saying that his winter is booked solid. No rumours of any projects getting shelved for him, so I'm looking at that as a positive sign, seismic always is the first to get shut down when we have a downturn. We're moving lots of camps in right now too. Plus, right now we can't keep up, we're turning work away, we'll see after the new year how things start to shape up. Let's keep our fingers crossed Tee!

Sort of what I am thinking will happen. Id bet it will be very busy next year. Companies want to make profit. if there margins are lower they need to move more volume. Either way what ever happens happens. I'll eat the same as I always do.

Maybe ppl should not finance everything under the sun and be happy with what they have and can afford nothing is certain with oil. I know I'm ready for $50 oil and can't wait to get good deals on the extras in life. it's unfortunate that it could be at my neighbors expense.

Oil is going to $35/bbl. expect it to stay below $50 for 12 - 18 mths. Fat WILL be trimmed where it's needed.

yes it will......labourers making $100,000+ a year are going to feel it.....the key is to not carry debt, a lesson many will learn.....

the patch peeps aren't very optimistic in this part of the world.

we always stay fairly busy....between the crushers, const, and logging, we'll be business as usual. I enjoy hearing the stories, rumors, and blind speculation

Thats what a used T3 is worth any way without a recession, typical of most dudes not knowing what depreciation is once you take it off the lot., should be worth 20% less at a minimum
