09 M1000 ecu 17 code flashing

I have an interesting problem with my 09 m10. I have a wrench show up on my display as well as an ecu17 code flashing which indicates a O2 sensor malfuntion. I replaced the sensor and the code stayed away for a short time. The machine runs the same as always but maybe burns a little more fuel. All of my grounds are hooked up properly and i have not messed with any of my connections to the ecu. It pulls rpms perfectly and has no issues in any power ranges. What are the odds of my new O2 sensor being bad? I will switch with a friend and see what his sled shows but I need some advise or ideas. I also found my throttle switch to be all corroded and it gave me some grief but the two are not related as it was perfect after I got the switch cleaned up, other than the code. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

that is the pipe temp sensor and they go bad all the time,most people just get the gm 2011 duramax egt sensor and replace it as it is 50 bux compared to 130
and just splice the old end on

check your wires before the sensor plug down by the motor mount. Those wires are small and can easily break

When you get a new sensor loop it back and tie wrap the wires to the sensor. They break easy. GM durimax sensor 12636945 or......46 number has been upgraded lots. AC numbers are 213 4759 or 213 4778. Good luck manno!!

I also ride a 09 m1000 and have had that code come up,found the wirers in the plug it self kept coming loose .put new plug in works good now

Haha exact same problem happened today, Started the M1000 for the first time this season to get it ready for our trip and that code came up. I'm just gonna get a Duramax EGT sensor like they said. F**king cats eh haha(Doo Rider)

Well I dug into my problem a bit and my new 02 sensor is also no good. The dealers are telling me that I must have a short in the harnesss some where. I had a wire that bared itself right by the plug and broke a few strands off but most of the wire was connected and none was grounding out anywhere as it was zip tied in place. I will tear into the harness but I don't know how far to go as this looks like its gonna be a big job. Could it be a fluke that my new 02 sensor was no good from the start or my second question, would a few strands of wire being broke cause issues even though it didn't ground out? Looking down the harness a bit, it is all protected pretty good and it would surprise me to find a wire that rubbed through somewhere, what do you guys think? I will go down the duramax road next for the sensor just because of the cost difference and see what happens.

Started to play with my wires and found 3 cracked motor mounts and the aluminum cracked at the bottom of my steering post had a 6 inch crack and a lot of movement, this small job has turned big!!! Has anybody changed motor mounts before, are they easy to change?

Well I dug into my problem a bit and my new 02 sensor is also no good. The dealers are telling me that I must have a short in the harnesss some where.

It's just a thermocouple. A short in the wiring harness is not going to make it go bad.

You can also chuck the damn thing and just use a 430 ohm resistor.

Yes I found out that a short will not wreck the sensor, I think that my new sensor was a dud and I am gonna go get a duramax one and if I still have grief I am gonna go down the resister road next, I looked at my wiring and there is no issues with it as far as I can see.

So today I installed the Duramax exhaust sensor which cost me $74.00 and I ran the machine for a few minutes and the code is gone, I will take it for a rip tommorow and see if it holds up. I also changed out all of my motor mounts and added my own version of lindermans extra mount kit that I copied off my buddie, now I just need to figure out how to align my clutches again and I am ready for the hills!

Arctic Edge sells the resistor with ends on it. Cut and crimp,never have a problem again.

Well the Duramax sensor didnt hold up in my machine, it lasted for the most part of one day so now I have installed the resister from Linderman and I will see how good that does. I wouldnt care about the code flashing so much but the sled does burn quite a bit more fuel when it is screwed.I hope this works cuz I hate wiring issues!

make sure you let the sled warm up properly and dont go hard from the start cause its at full timing with that resistor.

i must be a lucky one almost 2400 miles on my m1 and exh sensor has never been changed. engine mounts not so lucky. every year mine needs new ones.

Any idea what the part number is? Mine is flashing the same code but I just have to wiggle the wires and it goes away... for now. Does the resistor take place of the sensor?

Resistor replaces the sensor, but it won't fix a wiring problem.

2 days of riding and still code free and back to burning the same amount of fuel. I am running into more people with this problem and no one can answer why the ecu is frying all of these exaust sensors but the resister is the key in my opinion so far.
