Had my 800 r go down around christmas time and just recently got it put back together. Had leaned out and lost a piston and since i had everything apart i decided to go with a full rebuild top and bottom.

Once i put it together and go to start i have no spark. All connections seems to be intact. I replaced the coil and plug wires at the same time.

Question 1: How can i check the power going to the coil?

Question 2: Does the ECM need to be reflashed after being unplugged for so long ( someone told me this but not sure i believe it, although can't argue because i dont know any better)

Question 3: What else can i check?

Don't think it would be a faulty stator, since it was working when the sled lost a piston.

Sled has plenty of fuel and just needs spark.

thanks for the help in advance.

p.s i have been using the search function here and on dootalk but like always can not come up with exactly what im looking for.

Did you pull it? How did you do the disconect on the electrical? Mine I cut the wires on the plug behind the chain case, I've heard the other way is to pull the two wires out of the plug maybe these got mixed up if you pulled them out? There is two plugs behind the chain case the second one is farther back. Also on the 08's it was a issue of the cooler rivet wearing through the wire on the big plug.

I don't think it would be that? My friend powder coated his 09 and the ECM was unpluged for a couple months +.

when you pulled the crank, and had to split the cases did you damage the stator? doesn't take much, maybe screwed the puller in to far, i never have done that:rolleyes:, and its fugged. just a thought.

are alll 3 stator wires plugged back into the back of the plug? it depends how you pulled it out because some guys cut the plug and some guys pull the 3 yellow wires from the stator plug.

either way ensure that those are plugged back in ( doesnt matter what order ) and also that the other 2 prong connector behind the chaincase is plugged in. you can not see this connection whatsoever.

I got a mechanic to split the cases and re bearing the crank so that i am not sure..

And as for the plug at the back i cut it at the time because i didn't know how easy it was to take the wires out of the harness. Wires were saudered back and shrink wrapped so should be correct.

The stator is in the bottom case on these sleds??

If you pulled the motor out, I'd check the wires that you had to pull out of the clip behind the chaincase and make sure you put them the right way.
I had the same problem, the two wires pushed out when I put the clip back together.

make sure trigger coils a facing the right direction this had happened to me and same problem i had no spark. My mechanic did this for me and it might sound stupid but they can be put in facing the wrong direction

Had same problem went and got the dess reprogrammed for nothing the coil wire was just off a hair probably from the rebuild lol, put it back on pinched it a little so it was tight and she fired up, simple but easily missed.
