07' M8 Shock question

We just upgraded to 2007 M8's. One is a 162" and the other is a 153" track. Other than that they are pretty much identical except for added options. They both have Fox shocks. Why would the 162' have the shocks turned upside down? the 153' are normal....

Is there a gain from turning the shocks the other way?

Post pics of the shocks on each sled. Is one air shocks and one non-air? If they are hydraulic shocks they should not be turned upside down.

I have a m8 and a crossfire and the both have the shocks mounted with the spring adjustment nut at the bottom. Like the third picture you posted.

oops the picture showing the orange skid plate from the front is the 162" sled...I swapped those pictures.

I think they were going for a different look...maybe so it would look like the air shock? Apart from having the shaft hanging down in the snow and getting iced up and more risk of ruining the seal, I see no advantage to mounting them that way. I'd flip them over if it was me.
