06 M7 primary clutch disassembly???

Ok i need to put in new weights and rolers in my clutch. i have some of it apart.I marked it when i took it apart. Was wonder if there are any special tool to take this nut off ,the one holding the spider on and if its is reverse thread or not?? I will circle it in a picture.

Should i go with what i think is stock weights. 703 68 or is there something better to put in. Sled is stock but with a can and ran great so i dont know if i should change anything.

Not a reverse thread and you do need a tool. It should have Green Loctite on it from factory so some heat helps. I have heard of people using other ways to get that nut off, but not sure how well that would work. You will also need a spider tool (grunt tool) to remove the spider. Again Green Loctite from factory. Spider is a tough one to get off. Takes some good effort even with the right tool.

if you are just changing weights you do not need to dissasemble that far.. just jam the primary open with an old wieght but make sure its not going to damage anything in the process. you will have enough room to change the weights and rollers. the spring you will need to remove the nut and split the sheeves.

I have the Spring out. I took out the 6 bolts and thats as far as i can go since i cant get that nut off to get the spider out.It looks like you need a double deep, deep socket. There is enough room to change the weights. But cant get to rollers. One roller is toast.From the other info i have been gathering you cannot just change the rollers on this clutch .It comes as a spider / roller assembly. Even when you search it on a cat site. Pi$$ me off . This spider has maybe 400 miles on it and was replaced under warrenty,.............. and of cource my warrenty was up at the end of Nov.

just following up on how you made out, i have never had one that far apart but im sure it is very possible. yes i do believe yo have to pull it completely apart to remove the pin and then the roller. hope ya got it.

Well i found out that you cannot just change the rollers and pins in the m7 spiders. It comes as assembly. You need a special tool to take that nut off to get the spider out.I didnt have that. So i phoned my dealer they wanted close to $400 to fix this one. So i ended up getting a new un-calibrated off ebay. for $245US dollars ($315 canadian) shiped to my house.The dealer here wanted $599 for uncalibrated or $700 For a ready to go one installed. I phoned 2 dealers. were within 30 bucks of each other. Gota love Canadas 100% mark up. Jerks.........

So as some of u know if you have clutch problems, probley just cheaper to get a new un-calibrated.

I have the same deal on my M1000 except that the spider split in four places. I'm going to put a billet one in from stm, still have to get the spider out though. I went to echo cycle and they're asking 4800 for an uncalibrated 3 post primary! It's rediculous! Never go there for anything, that was my first and last time setting foot in that place, they're worse than argyll motorsports which I hate even more. I called Devon in service at Don's speed parts, and they'll get one shipped in for $500. Can't seem to find any on ebay right now, might be looking in the wrong spot though.

In order to get the spider off you need to have a special socket and heat it a fair bit. Watch that you don't get the crank seal too hot. Getting the nut off can be fairly tricky, I know on a couple that my brother took off the threads came off with the nut he ended up buying a new clutch.
