I'm in need of direction. My stock engine in my 05' Griz 660 seems to run away in neutral. If you get it In gear it will also run away ( that's fun ). I have totally taken apart the carb, cleaned and inspected. Still, the same. What next?
Idle mixture screw?
Enriching jet?
Float level?

HELP

Still HELP

well lets look at whats changed and what it could be.

assuming the atv did not stall before when you touched the throttle that is.

1: you took the carb apart. if this is not back together perfectly your machine will not run properly.

2: assuming you took the carb out you probably turned your gas supply to OFF.. perhaps you simply forgot to turn it back on.

3: check your gas cap and see if the valve is stuck. if you took the tank off to get at the carb you might have splashed gas into it causeing it to stick CLOSED.. easy way to check is to remove it and blow into the hose if its stuck you wont be able to blow through it. this will cause problems such as you have stated.

perhaps a hose is kinked. check this.

check if your choak is kinked perhaps it is stuck ON.

Good luck.

What do you mean by run away? you mean idle up? or drive away? if it is creeping ahead I would say it is the clutch...but it wouldn't do that in "N" I guess

if i have my choke on my quad will do that aswell.

also if its cold. and you burp it with NO choke on your quad can DIE..

give it 20 min and try it. make sure that the choke isnt sticking.

the clutch should not creep either way nor would it cause it to stall.

the only reasonable explanation for the creep that you were seeing is the RPM's were coming up to engagement. meaning.. either the quad was idling too fast .. or the choke was on and was causing the quad to idle up.

A grizzly will die like i said when cold and no choke on.

Thanks everyone
It was the air jet. This model requires it to be at 3 turns and it was at 4 ish. The run away problem was in the throttle cable at the handle bar end. A few adustments and alot of hours ( good learning ) and all is well.

Thanks again ( I did try all of your ideas )
