In looking to add a rear winch and there's a good deal on a 4000 lb atv/utv winch at Canadian Tire. I don't see any other brand name associated with it and was wondering if anyone else has tried these before and if it's worth getting?

I had a 3500 and it was crap, clutch switch broke off first and can't get parts for it, made in China, then the motor quit not LNG after, running the champion winch from canadian tire on both my bikes and they are light years better and usually come on sale cheaper

Puting some piece of crap on for saving a few bucks is idiotic...lmao...
when you need a winch , you need it .. Not 50 frickin $$.

There are some great middle $$ winches , for just over 200 ish ...
Runva
Super atv
superwinch
badlands
smittybuilt ..etc

And any of the Warns are overpriced , as well ...,

But to try and fawk around with warranty and time and effort over a 100$ pos .. Is well just utterly stupid.

I've pulled with my Canadian Tire 4K rear winch probably 75 times while buried in mud and snow at -20°C and it hasn't given me a lick of trouble. It's actual been much better than the factory Warn front winch that I use far less. Buy it and enjoy it. I had the 3500 prior and I broke it in half on a submersed rock and it cost me almost nothing. (Less than a new belt).

The 3500 is a POS. Barely sunk rear tires of my ranger, just enough to high centre, front tires spinning on a root. It couldn't pull me out. Thru a snatch block on, still stuck and walking back to camp.

I wouldn't give them $1 for the 4K either. When ya need a winch, ya need a winch, not something that just looks like one. Then again, if all you do is run a snow blade, giver.

Thanks for all the feedback. The three really bad stucks I've gotten myself into where I ended up needed extra help getting out could've been saved by having a good rear winch. These units sound like any other cheap Chinese stuff out there where some will work great but others will leave you up $hit creek when you really need it. I'll keep my eyes open for something more reputable.

generally i would agree with you however with winches my experience has been quite different ran an $88 champion that a buddy grabbed for me from costco while he was shopping and heard I killed mine lasted 3 yrs until i sold the machine ... always sounded rough but never died
I have superwinch and have been happy with that on t4 but when warn was dead on the rzr i figure what the heck and so far so good (only 5 trips on it so far though so I am reluctant to recommend yet)

BLA BLA BLA, give us all break, you spew so much BS, it can't be any worse than your precious Runva, less than 1 in 5 you recommend is still working.

the one on sale at crap tire is 3000lb. unless there is a different flyer? it is likely not enough pull on a SxS anyway, without a snatch block. likely work on a quad,
he could go to 4 wheel parts and get one of their winches, they have an over the counter 3 yr warranty, If it burns out, breaks it's frame or just craps the bed they wil replace it over the counter.

I looked at those when I bought my last super winch. It was tempting to try one out but I have had good luck with the super winch so bought the second one. It was about 80 bucks cheaper too. I like the synthetic rope but it isn't for me. For what people have told me you need to maintain the rope and I know I won't wash it enough.

Runva are pretty good , pulled you out with it a few times ....lmao

Just about all winches are made in China now , so they csn be good , bad or I between ...like most things it's about maintaining your stuff .
Some do , others just yap about till it's too late ...when you need it .
Most winches of medium Chinese quality , work well ... But not when they are rarely serviced .
Fix it , test it , check it at home before you need it .... Especially with a winch .
Dont be that guy .... Lol

don't recall you pulling at all. runva and all the rest are just about the same, you get a good one and a bad one, usually the guy running the winch is at fault, another story altogether, i have seen $300 dollar runva's not last any longer than the $120 ctc winch. no idea what op is riding don't care, asked about a 4000lb cc winch, I only saw a 3000lb, for $120 if that is all he wanted to spend, I say go for it. from what I have seen champion is as good as any other, and if it has a one yr warranty he has nothing to lose.
