Completely with you on that. Did my 13 after the first year with 1300 miles on even though I had another year of warranty left. Pistons were decent but the rings were shot. RKT got my money and I'm very happy with the power increase... The way the 14s run with over 2000 miles that I've been...
How many miles do you have on? Why do you think you need a fix kit? Have you got your motor apart yet to take precise measurements and diagnose what YOU need exactly? Questions everybody should ask themselves before spending money on a "fix kit". IMO
I gave both of them money last year and while I was satisfied with both their products/services both come across pretty childish and arrogant on the forums. IMO
You two are hilarious... Actually it's pretty clever marketing... Have a pissing match on a bunch of different forums that draw people in for the entertainment. Not only do your products get a lot of attention everybody learns that they "need" to do something or otherwise they wont make it back...
I don't doubt that for a second. I strongly considered one of his motors last year and sent both my clutches to him for balancing and was impressed. But as with any good motor guy in the snowmobile world they seem to think pretty highly of themselves and are not afraid to tell you about it. lol
Why do you think that is??? More fuel than the lean stock map is my theory... I think a fuel box and turning the oiler up on these sleds is the real fix kit.
Clean crank and clutch with brake cleaner, torque to 80 ft lb, run and engage a few times, retorque and repeat until it doesn't take anymore torque. Clutch will come off nice and easy the next time you need it to following these steps.
RKT's fuel numbers did not work for me, needed more fuel so that took a little time to figure out. Clutching worked well and was easy to adjust with the rooster weights but the backshift with the stock secondary is a little slow. Not bad but I'm going to try and improve it this year.
If you...
I tuned by feel and confirmed with plug/piston readings. I keep it on the safe side cause I'm no tuning pro.
BD fuel box is about $425 and I think I had $1250ish in complete RKT kit with clutching, box and cheater head.
What kind of piston to cylinder clearance are you seeing with the 13/14s at what kind of miles?
My bud has 2000+ ridiculously hard mountain miles on a 14 that hasn't skipped a beat and is still pulling the same weights and rpm since new. Stock other than extra oil. Going to take it apart and...
With how lean the 13/14 map is how can you get another 7hp without a fuel controller? My RKT di kit needs about 12% more in the mid and 10% on top and I doubt its 15hp... Maybe 10hp at most.
How much of this fix kit stuff is just hype with the 13/14 sleds? Imo the real fix kit is adding fuel...
