The carbs look ok but I don't know too much about carbs. Nothing was falling apart on them, jets are in tight and clean (400 mains and 17.5 pilots) and the fuel screws are 1 1/2 turns out.
LOL! Ya thanks Farmerboy I am kind of interested to figure the problem out because as you know a new pump is $330 but I think I'm going to have to just fork out the cash for a new pump and then figure it out later. Thanks. I take it a new pump solved the problem?
Just curious, Do you know the Skogen's or the Lacroix's? I see you live around Cremona area and my cousin Ryan Lacriox and friend Jay Skogen are from that area.
Yes the cable is all the way down in the sleeve and yes there is tension. I pulled the pump today and it was a little sticky in one spot but seemed to be fine after I worked it a bit so maybe when it gets warm it gets worse (grasping at straws). There was a black spot after every time I stopped...
Is this what is causing my bad fuel mileage?
I am replacing them with a set of V-force reeds but I am curious if this is my problem. I looked into the basics thinking I was going to see a sore thumb some where but nothing stuck out except this. I would be alright with the mileage if I was...
Don't feel bad, I upgraded to an 04 skud this year and now have 7g into a sled that I bought for 4g (thought I was getting a good deal) :( You win some you lose some. When it's all said and done you will know your machine, I guess.
What he said except I was told to bring it up to temp three times then ride it like a rental! Lol. Just did a short block in my 04 and it's running good.
It will be interesting to know what you find. I just got an 04 800 and I'm having the same problem except mine is running at 20 to 1. I installed a new cable because the old one was starting to fray and adjusted it all the way to nothing. I am running brp mineral oil and i don't see any leaks in...
I got mine for $1800 (plus gst of course) from a buddy who got it from the dealer for me, it would have been $1900 if I went into the dealer myself. I think you are laughing if you got 5000km on the bottom end.
Ya you got it. That suck's. I just had the same thing happen to mine, I did a short block in mine. Depending on how many mile you have on your engine that might be your best bet too.
Check this out. http://www.mxzx-revzone.com/article/-162.asp . Lots of good info on clutches and I was wrong about the 1/4" it should be 1/8" from the end of the shaft.
You need a dial indicator and a mag base. It's pretty easy to do, once you use a clutch puller to remove the clutch, you set the dial indicator up a 1/4" from the end of the pto stub. Then put the clutch bolt back in and pull your spark plugs. Rotate the engine over slowly and note the dial...
