Hey everybody, so I bought myself an '86 Big Red 250es this spring as a fun and cheap toy/fixer upper. When I bought it, it wasn't running, and the electric start wasn't working either. So I after plenty of tinkering I got both issues figured out and she runs/starts like a top every time...
I feel that you may be right!
I covered all the vents with pre-filter material, and put the nose cone block off kit in and I honestly feel that it made it worse.
On the third day of riding my quick drive belt slipped right off, which stretched it a bit. Which is frustrating at $300 a piece...
I had (keyword had) an 858 last year. Slight cold seize or something along that line combined with possibly poor installation at Cervus in Pincher Creek and it went boom 200 km after I bought it. Wore a cylinder and started with the piston slap and then eventually cracked a cylinder.
I must...
Order placed with CWW. Ordered multiple things. Pretty great parts staff to deal with. I'll be using them from now on, even with rec supply 5 minutes away.
Yeah my 14 came with electric start but it quit working, and was unwanted bulk, so I just pulled it all out.
I'll check out the skinz footwell covers. Should have something set up for the next trip, I'll report back in a few weeks.
Hey folks,
After riding last weekend in fairly soft dry snow, I found that a lot of ice builds up around the quick drive belt and sprocket.
I would just break it up and clear it out every morning, but would like something to prevent it all together because it seems like it could tear up a quick...
Quartz report; trail was well groomed, lacking in snow for the first few kilometres though. Similar conditions to Silent, not a ton of base, but there's still some fresh snow to be had in the trees if you're the adventurous type. Lots of nasty hidden stumps and rocks, as well as open creeks...
Yup, not much base, but enough to have a ton of fun if you're careful. I like to stick to the trees, so I had no problem finding fresh snow. As Doo2015 said, the road is a little slick, there were a few people putting chains on their pick-ups but you'll be fine if you take it slow and steady...
Update for today, -30C when we unloaded this morning. Seemed like 80% of the people that were up there were from Saskatchewan, maybe Notley has made the Albertans soft! The snow was decent, but there were lots of sleds. So it's a bit tracked out now and could use a reload. Lots of open creeks...
Just got down, there was some fresh stuff last night, but not a ton. It definitely helped though. As soon as you get out of the trees things turn to concrete though.
So, I took my sled to Discovery Polaris and they called me back saying that either a rod was bent, or a bearing was going in the crank due to a slight knocking sound in the engine. I told them to take a hike, and went and picked my sled up. HOWEVER after loading it up and then going to unload it...
Hey folks, now that I'm not broke I'm looking at getting back into a motocross club this summer. I was just wondering if anybody has been too, or is part of the Saskatoon track/club. I know the regina track is awesome, but I'm not fond of joining a club 2.5 hours away.
