In the service manual, it looks like there is only 1 spot for the needle circlip, with a plastic washer under it. I wonder how would you adjust it without changing to the older needles? I'm guessing some kind of shims or something?
I have often wondered where my passenger side sensor is, but have confirmed multiple times that the one on the driver's side is definitely the climate control sensor.
A couple of weeks ago, I bought another Samsung Plasma. Panasonic would be my first choice, but cost was too high to get the same features as the Samsung. USB input for videos or pictures that are on a stick, wired ethernet for media on the computers at home, and an option for wireless...
If your sled is an X model, you should be able to get the shock rebuilt much cheaper than replacement. I'm pretty sure all of the shocks are rebuildable on the X package models.
The front shock everyone is talking about is on the rear suspension. There are 2 shocks, the front one controls the initial weight transfer between the skis and track, and the back one controls the stiffness of the rear suspension. By setting the front shock stiffer, you have less ski pressure...
They dropped the "Everest" model in 2012. You have to look at the SP or X for a 163. The sport is a bare bones version (no 2.5" track option, basic shocks, steel handlebars, analog gauges, etc), although it is better than the sport options last year.
Mine was PTO side outer main bearing. From what I have read, it is the most common one, as it is right beside the clutch, and is subject to more heat than the inner PTO and both MAG greased bearings. I don't know if anybody has had a center bearing failure, as these are oiled bearings.
Ron,
Any particular reason you went with the Pilot 6.9's? I think next year I will have to replace my 6.9's (last year they got worn down a bit after neglecting my carbides), and have often wondered how much better any of the aftermarket skis are compared to the 6.9's.
The bearings can be greased without splitting the cases on the newer 800s, but the mag side can be tricky. On the PTO side, there are 4 allen key bolts that you undo behind the primary clutch, and the seal comes off. Fill with grease, reseal. That's the easy one.... To do the mag side, you...
Big time. Last time I checked, it was either $70 or $90 (can't remember which). I would much rather have a company that deals with the bottles and air ALL THE TIME than some sled shop that got a 1 hour tutorial how to fill compressed gas. I have nothing against any of the sled shops, but this...
For a much cheaper refill, buy the o-ring kit, replace it yourself (can't remember the price of the kit), then take it to Northwest Scuba. They charged $7.00 per bottle a couple of years ago....
We buy our chains from Continental Chain & Rigging as well, and they get used at work a fair bit. They are very well constructed and are easy to put on. They have 3 half moon tightener plates, so it gives you the ability to put the chain on a bit loose, and then snug them up by turning the 3...
I would think that you should be able to find somewhere (either on YOU or your sled) that would be able to handle a day of riding. Most of us find a way. I have no problems with being stopped to check for stolen sleds, as long as that is what they are actually stopping people for. I have...
The "PowerTEK" term for the 800 was definitely used in 2006, and maybe even 2005. My brother in law has the 2006 800, and there is a grey PowerTEK sticker right on it from factory. I have the 2006 service manual as well, and yes, the 800 is referred to as the PowerTEK. The E-RAVE valves were...
If you look at the parts fiche on any website other than Ski-doo, the updated cable is on there for the 08's, but Ski-doo doesn't put the updates on their public site. Not sure whether the parts person screwed up your cable or what....
The biggest lesson I learned from sliding backwards was to put it in the ditch right away. Too much speed = expensive, and if it is a long way down, there is no way you are going to not hit the ditch at some point. A couple of years ago, I was lucky enough to ditch it slowly and not wreck...
