Crankshaft issue 09 800r

When everyone talks about crank pilling up on these 800r what is failing.Is it main bearings or rod bearings.The reason i ask is my motor blew this weekend and when i pulled apart mag piston is leaned burned and rod is blue and rod bearing is very rough.PTO side looks perfectly fine.Is it possible bearing went and caused enough heat in cylinder to make piston look like it is lean burned.

Mine was PTO side outer main bearing. From what I have read, it is the most common one, as it is right beside the clutch, and is subject to more heat than the inner PTO and both MAG greased bearings. I don't know if anybody has had a center bearing failure, as these are oiled bearings.
