Any Idea what this is?

Recently bought a 2003 GMC ex cab SB 4WD for the farm.....

Right above the drivers head is what looks like a speaker, the stupid thing crakles for a few minutes when you start the truck up cold...

Have tried adjusting the stereo and no sound comes out of it, it also doesnt effect the cralking one way or the other.

I thought that, but coudnt find anything in the 2003 manual for it, and theres no indication on the mirror or dash for on star or phone.....so wasnt sure...

Probably just a speaker for alarms and warnings ie keys left in etc.

That is the sensor for the automatic climate control on the driver's side. The on-star antenna is always attached to the upper console.

hey! I provided a link to a service bulletin!

I had previously searched it on the GM forum a few years back because my pa's '02 was making noises from that little "speaker"....between the time I went to look for it someone had posted what it was. I guess too much help is a bad thing?
