Any info on snow conditions around the crowsnest. I have not riden down there since all the heat and rain hit. Hoping to take my daughter out Friday and Saturday and the forecast for Fernie is rain for Friday; I'm hoping to do some trail riding in the Crow Friday in sunshine. Is Atlas toast...
Rode coal creek on sat. Poured rain all day, we were at around 6400ft. I found the trail was rough but rideable, had to slow down in a few spots. Found lots of untracked but no powder...slushy spring riding....what you'd expect riding in the rain!
I just switched from a supercharged apex to a 16 T3. Sure miss the power....+50% really is a huge difference! Always looking down at the bars to see if I have snow between the throttle and bar.
Atlas has been a go to for my family. Stop in at the Husky for a "spanky" (trail map). Or a Backroads map book...most of the trails are roads in the book.
I have not ridden it this year but York Creek out of Coleman has been good in the past as well. It accesses a large areas south of the...

I haven't stayed at the Crowsnest Mtn resort in years, but when I did it was great! No idea if you can ride from the resort...we always trailered. It usually looks very...
Can't give you a long term weather forecast but this week looks good. I'd be optimistic...but I always am! The crowsnest is in the South Rockies region...unless you venture into BC then you could be in the Lizard. The snow pack is very different east and west of the divide....I'd dig a pit...
I tend to go into BC: Corbin, Alexander, Fernie, Elkford etc for off trail. Depends on how much off trail you've done and what you're looking for. I find it can be hit and miss in Atlas. Feb 10-12 weekend was ridiculous, Friday I burned a tank in 40kms (16 etec). Just getting around on the...
I rode there Thur, Friday and Monday. Trails were in great shape. Monday there was a bit of fresh on some of the trails. It was snowing when we left and snowing hard in Bellevue Monday evening. I didn't venture off trail too much, it was just my daughter and me, but found a few soft spots...
Rode from atlas parking lot to cabin on the road today. Trail had been groomed and was I great shape. Raining in the parking lot at 3pm when we left and snowing/sleet/drizzle off and on from 5km up the road to the cabin. If it cools down tonight hopeful get some fresh.

They weren't all like this but every trail we were on was in great shape. We were just trail riding...a rarely go off trail in atlas. If trail riding is your thing then last weekend was perfect. All of our riding was between the parking lot and the cabin.

I went with discoverer so I could get used to it without costing me to use it every time. $36/month with tax. It's easy to change your plan later on. I do use tracks; I set it to record every hour in case I'm by myself and have an issue and I'm not able to hit SOS. That way they know where...
So the lodgepole is plowed to the McLatchie turnoff? How far in is the McLatchie plowed? To the Flathead?
Is wigwam plowed?
Appreciate any info...trying to stay of the plowed roads as i don't have a vhf/uhf radio...might be time to get one.

Your right..as long as you have their contact e-mail or phone number that will take text. Or contact someone that will get hold of them. The inreach will basically allow you to send and receive text or e-mail from anywhere to any number or e-mail (as long as it can connect to satellites)...
Road silent Monday. I'd call it tracked out but only 4 sleds in there on Monday so we still managed to find good snow. The main areas were pounded but smaller areas and the trees were good.

I'm in calgary but ordered a Fly f2 carbon pure cold weather that I love. Ordered from Royal Distributing - I couldn't find a local supplier. I wear it in the summer as well DH biking. Dual density foam with SNELL rating. Not super light but not super pricey either.
