These are the quick release clips we use. 3 for $16 on Amazon. Takes a small piece of 3/4" nylon strap and a bit of sewing to make them work really well with a normal D-ring helmet. They work much better than any others I've tried.

On a side note, I have beat the snot out of this case, stood on it, bounced it off trees, used it in -36 weather and it's only scratched. AAA rating on the Nanuk Cases from me!

My '09 did the exact same thing in the fall. TCM needed to be replaced and is very common according to the parts man at the dealership here.
