the new diesels do suck especially the onces that are still using diesel to clean the DPF. the new lml (the one we have here anyways) 2012 CCLB 3500 get around 12l/100km on highway unloaded. which was better than my 2007 LBZ stock. but i got a tuner in mine and it made a huge improvement.
had a old 6l bullet proof but drank fuel about as fast as you put it in. i was looking for a truck same thing crew cab with a PROPER short box and would not own a 6l unless it had the 6 speed but even then i went for the diesel. 24mpg empty how can ya beat that :P.
and maintenace is more as i...
do the lights dim when you turn the key? get a hammer and tap the starter a bit and as said above, check the connections at the starter and at the battery.
when all else fails put a chevy emblem on it and i bet it will fire right up ;)
heres some, my brother on the old M tried to roll his sled over by himeself on a hill and it landed on him, the other dad didnt see the ravine and tried to clear it haha.
you could price out a shortblock or talk to indy dan about a long rod engine, or sell it and get a new sled.
if it were me i would be tempted to part out and get a new sled (used) preferably a cat hahaha :P
hahaha trust me i will never go back to a trailing arm sled :P but i just loved my mountain max, i loved the way it handled (could be i had my suspension setup vs the escape that was never adjusted for rider weight)
800 had crank issues i believe. they are an ok sled, harder than the newer stuff to move around of course. i myself if i had to go back to a trailing arm sled it would be a yamaha mountain max 700.
i cant find the video spot to post but here is my edit for this year. its not a perfect edit but not bad for my first try. :)

to add another thing if i owned one of the diesels with regen cycles and such i would definelty replace it more often, i dont like how hot the egts get and such.
mine im lucky, it doesnt tow hardly anything (sleds in the winter) just a daily driver, every 6 month it will get fuel filter, air...
my dmax is at 14000kms and has 15% left on the dic. i wanted to change it sooner but running out of time each day. full synthetic rotella t6, i see no issue with that.
yup i ordered shocks for my truck, it cost me 85$ in fees from ups on top of the shipping charges, needless to say i wont do that again, usps is the only way to go.
seal it up, lots of spots snow can get in, there is a spot down by the front heat exchange. after they get sealed up and you do the necessary m ods (a-arms, re drill spindles for proper ski swing, a torque arm or white rade ttcf) then they are great, 700 miles on my 084 belt with lots of deep...
