thanks for the reply, that makes total sense. i should have been more clear on the question. i plan to strip everything off the 07 chassis till its a bare tunnel bulk head with front suspension. then remove all electronics, engine, ect from the 2005 and install those parts on the 07 chassis.

i have a customer who owns a 2005 800 summit. his buddy smashed it beyond repair. so i was wondering or want to confirm if you can use the 800 ho engine in a 2007 800r chassis? i recall being told you cant? but just wanted to make sure before commiting to this job. thanks

im sorry i just re-read this post. you have already changed the stator. i guess its possible to have bought a stator with the same issue? usually a cdi will work or not work. just for fun i would do the test i mentioned above on the stator just for fun before buying a cdi box. could save you...

change the stator, this will not be a coil. seen this on many sleds,atv's, bikes. the coils break down under heat and you will loose spark. once cold it will run great till its hot again. if you look online or in good manual they will give the test procedures and wire colors to test with ohm...

i would not have gone with cv tech. they do not have a good rep. i have been told by many people/shops. there reason behind this and it makes sense is due to the fact back east there are alot more sleds then say out here. parts such as cyl's and cranks have been rebuilt/replated so many times...

thanks doug. i will have the engine out today to see how bad it is. mongoose wants the crank and both pistons sent down to them... they think it as detenation that caused the rod to go... i run 91 with octane booster every time and its never had this issue.
