If I get into an area where I can hold the throttle to the bar for long periods, the sled will drop down into limp mode where it only holds 7000 rpm. I have to turn it off and let it cool for a couple of minutes and then it rips again. I know the older XP's did this quicker and easier. The...
What ever you do, do not buy a piss yellow machine. Get a Yamaha Apex. Most reliable sled ever built...and heaviest.
Ha ha just kidding, if you want a sled that has no issues and won't leave you stuck on the hill then definitely get a Polaris. Good luck and have fun!
the front visor on the full face helmet is only a single layer so it fogs up all the time, goggles have double lense. full face only work when riding fast roads or lake crossings. working hard in the trees=fogging up. the most stylish person is the guy that can work hard in the trees on tough...
I stayed the night 2 years ago with 2 other friends, we tried connecting 2 riding areas together and when we dropped elevation then we ran out of snow coverage so we worked really hard lifting sleds over creeks/logs. We eventually had to call it quits (200 meters from the logging road out, but...
Drive the 45 minutes and buy the Summit XMX 154, you don't need a 163 on these new xm's...that whole tree flotation thing was pre-xm stuff. Plus, if your buddies are running 154's, then it's always more fun too match everything up, it makes it all more even. My crew are all running 163's...
Did you guys in the Fernie - Crowsnest area get this last storm? Thinking about going south for 1 last ride tomorrow....maybe Corbin? there are 2 of us in a truck with sled deck, no trailer, just looking for some late soft snow.
Started happening right before the rebuild was done, that's why I thought once the rebuild was done along with the reeds then the problem would be solved...but not the case. I am fussy when it comes to the revs (I'm sure you are too) and always play with my clickers to get it to sing in what...
Thanks for the info, ya clutches were cleaned when top end was done. It'll hit 8100 down in lower elevations and it runs strong so probably not the vacuum lines, i think it is just a worn out clutch. I'll talk to my local dealer and try to order a rebuild kit. I really liked the stock...
My sled along with my buddies sled are only maxing out around the 7800 RPM range on clicker 6. Both are stock sleds with just a can added, both are around the 2500 km mark with the new top end rebuild and new reeds. Sled's run great, they just don't hold the nice high numbers they used to on...
no, it's just weird to see so much smack talk about skidoo's from one guy on the skidoo section. of coarse they are not perfect, but there is no perfect machine. plus, the way we all love to abuse them makes them break down. let's face it...they are pretty much disposable. If you think Cat...
I agree with underdog. You guys want 165 horse at 450 lbs and then go ride the fricken things at 8000 rpm all day while chucking them off of cliffs and roll them out of 4' trenchs only to pound the f**k out of them on the whoops on the way down, chuck em in the truck and then drive 5 hours back...
well, right after I post the smart azz comment i get a check engine light flashing and it goes into limp mode. bring it to my local dealer and it turns out it's a shot exhaust temp sensor on the muffler. BRP covers that part on warranty and i'm back to rooop rooop.
so far i have 1100 km's and...
you nailed it right there. because the 163 floats better you can modulate the throttle more, you don't have to pin it as much. it's kinda funny, when you get into tight trees, the 163 is like cheating. you watch all the other guys nailing the throttle and you get to torque you're way...
ya, I'm having some serious issues so please give me some advice. My arms and shoulders are getting very sore and my helmet is filling up with tonnes of powder??
only been in the regular way, so i am not sure. either way, you have to climb and sidehill through monster tree wells to get up. the other way would be longer and probably no trail in that is defined or ridden that much, if i am guessing at what you are looking at, but i am sure that would be...
try thinking about it this way. Why wouldn't you want a 163? The top pros only get shorter sleds for launching large cliffs and hitting jumps. the 163 is superior for mountain riding in pretty much every aspect, accept for that area. The skids can bend easier if you are launching big air.
I...
I was in there on Feb 26th from the usual way. My buddy and i were the only ones up there that day. the 2 other crews that attempted could not make it. we watched and listened from on top. beware the many terrain traps and save it for a sunny day.
Great thread, just what i was looking for.
Just picked up my 08 800 2 weeks ago, it had 600 km's on it, pretty much mint and pretty much stock. the biggest problem for me so far after 3 days on it, has been the intake clogging with snow when you finally hit the real deep stuff. What's the best...
