came accross this on the news this evening.

lets not turn this into a brand bash as all the manufacturers pretty much use this same design as far as i can tell.

pretty sure all these mountain bars come in the loose position for transport to the dealer. to be tightened once setup. all the mountain bars i checked at my dealer today were perfectly tight.

looks like possibly a poor pdi and a little negligence on the owners part. a loose part like that should be tightened up asap before riding. would be easy to notice.

anyways. check your mountain bars. all brands!

I think the dealer is more to blame doing a crappy set up and pdi!I haven't heard about any other ski doos having the throttles stick because of the mountain bar.I would be yelling at the dealer instead of brp even then they are going to say he was screwing with the bars!I think he's sol on having anyone covering the sled.

Going to tighten mine too. It has stayed tight but I know a buddy has had his come loose the exact same way. Dealer or BRP better step up to the plate on this one.

I was in Valemount 3 weeks ago it happened to a guy on a 2012 white Summit X . He said throttle stuck and he jumped off also , sled plowed into a tree and was still wide open untill he pulled the key. I got rid of that flimsy grab bar and put a handle off a new cat on .

there is a black plastic spacer on the grab bar mount. ive been removing these that way when its tight its tight. with the spacer in there even if tight i imagine eventually it can work its way loose.

I guess these dudes aren't wearing their tethers? Just another reason to doo the right things.....

Definitely a PDI thing at the dealer's and not something they should take lightly.

PS Check out the MMV thread in Snowmobile Chat. See you there?

not PDI in my opinion mine came loose twice now from me using the bar strap and I personaly tightened that thing so tight,,, the clampos are chit and bend thats the problem,, edit or a plastic spacer Im told,,,

once you bend them good and tight to bars my guess is they will stay,,, I will check tomorrow on mine again,,,
