I ride an 01 800 summit c/w 151 x 16 & simmons skis. Had it dyno'd and clutches set up. Lots of power for me. I go to mountains 2-3 times a year. Ride around foothills, Whitecourt as well. As my name says I'm a bit older. lol Question: Is there a big advantage to changing rides to the newer technology? Thanks for feedback.

YES!!!
You will not be tired and sore the next day on a newer ride.
It made a world of difference going from a 2000 RMK, to an 04 Rev. Now I'm looking more forward to my Dragon

I would stick to the ZX. New SH&* is overrated. Stupid lightweight high horsepower nonsense!

The newer the better! Less gas, less oil, less effort to pull the throttle, less noise, less problems......more warranty, more fun, more reliability, more $$$$......but take it from another old fart you'll enjoy the ride.

BTW if imdoo'm says, "I'm old like dirt, don't believe him!"

you know those bumps in the trail at the end of the day that make you want to end your life on the zx? xp floats over those like a fat kid hovers over cake.

the whole experience is so much more enjoyable and less tiring. gobs of power from the new engines that are hard tot touch with even a moded old sled.

And if you're a tall oldtimer you can stretch out your legs on the XP and then transition easily to standing up with no effort.

The difference in suspension is worth it alone. Even upgrading to a Rev would leave you feeling a lot better at the end of a day of riding.

I am betting $16000 that it is. I have a 2000 summit I am upgrading to a freeride. For that much cash it had better be a huge upgrade.

If you dumped 16gs into that zx it would lay a smackdown on a freeride and look 10x better. But dont bring it to Specialty or the freeride will spank you.
