My parents have a kabota. They've had it since 2002 ish and never had a problem with it. If I ever buy one that's what will be in my shed And it cuts a few acres of grass per cut.

I cut between 5 & 6 acres of grass. It would take over 5.5-6 hours with a 54" garden tractor. I bought a Deere Z930A with a 72" deck.....wow....cut it all now in little over 2 hours

I'm not so sure it's a Zero-turn vs tractor debate....mostly a power debate. My 4x4 Massey diesel is not a ZT, but with the 60" undermount and hydrostatic, it just zips through the wet tall stuff I call lawn right now. I can't imagine a ZT being any faster...more maneuverable, yes....but I planted all my trees 10' from the fence-line and 10' apart...so no issues with a tractor. Comparing my little diesel or a ZT Kubota diesel to a "box-store gasser mower" really isn't fair....I'm sure I could mulch right over one of those little things.

Your right dave, the multi purpose tractor you have, allows you to get more for your money, and is a good investment. I wanted a unit like yours, But went with the zt kubota, i wish now i had bought the 72 inch model instead. I would love a tractor like you have, the things you can do

Wickham Nursery land Lloydminster Sask have several "0" turn units that are new and used. they ave a Grass Hopper thats like new. Very good pricing and no Sask tax!
That is a good jag... I got about the same. I found a commercial cutter was the way to go !

Bought a Country Clipper Jazee Pro with 52" deck and 27 HP Kohler engine in 2012. I cut 3 acres of grass with many obstacles so the zero turn really made sense for me. Took about 2/3 off of the mowing time. Looked at Cub Cadet, John Deere and Country Clipper. Did not look at diesels as that involved using considerable extra money I prefered to spend on sledding or quadding. Price was comparable between the 3 but the Clipper appeared the most sturdy of the 3. Also has a single joystick so I can hold my beer while cutting. Had the only flip up deck available at that time.
After 2 seasons, I am still happy with the purchase. I could cut faster but have a full mulching kit so that does have an effect in tall or very wet grass.

Just curious - What did you spend on the commercial mower? My Jazee was $6,000
In 2008 the dollar was not good, But needed it. 16 G tax in (Kubota 72" deck, 31 HP Diesel).... Seen them cheaper last few years.
I agree with you Dave. I got a lot of cutting to do, lots of maneuver work plus lots of straight runs. I use both the 72 " zero turn and also a 3 pt 84" finishing behind a tractor. Tractor does the long runs & ZT does the inner yard & the zig zag between the trees. If the grass is dry the only thing I think that would keep up to those machines is a WILD FIRE.

Awesome machine BF. My wife wouldn't let me spend double + what I did. Shoot. Got mower envy now.

Well I pulled the pin and picked up a 2013 kubota ZD323 with a 60" deck last weekend. Thanks fellas for all your help.

Excellent choice. I've been around Kubota for a long time and their product is rock solid. I can't find anyone who I've sold one to, who's been disappointed.

The only reason beyond maneuverability that the zero-turn will cut quicker, is the front castor wheels being small and not compacting the grass as bad as tractor style mower. Only thing better to combat that is a front mount.

I'm looking for a zero turn mower for this fall.
I'm leaning towards a 52" wide deck as I've heard there is too much dirt chirpin' if you have a really wide deck and your ground is not level. (the outsides of the deck hits the dirt)
