Wolves will go where the food is. Not a lot of food above the tree line. Goats and sheep are up there and the goats are least likely to be food for wolves. They have a lot of safety on the rocks. Sheep aren't as particular to the rocks like goats are so some of them are food for occasional wolves. Lots of wolves in the Elk Valley and quite often you can see tracks on the trails, moose/deer/elk carcasses in the bush, and game numbers have been dropping.

But hey, the wolves gotta eat too.

Honestly, everyone should be in a uproar. Only thing we should be feeding wolves is lead
biggest problem is guys wanna kill the big bad wolf, and he is the alpha and the only one that will breed
If he gets removed from the pack the other wolves will breed like rabbits and numbers increase substantially
Please take as many of the smaller wolves you can find or see
All the ranchers will luv you
and so will the caribou/deer/elk/moose

Now your back to the "ethical" side of hunting. Harvest a deer, moose, elk even bear you put them in the freezer. While there is a season for wolves i only know the rare few who actually use the skin. We are kinda trained now to only shoot what you are going use. Leaving a carcass in the bush is "unethical" and unlawful even though it would be part of predator control . 20 yrs ago no one blinked an eye at popping one, be it we coyote cougar etc. Now people find a carcass in the bush and they are calling fish and game. There is another thread on here about a cougar found in bush in same situation. The wolves are a problem, but you cant shokt them for the sake of shooting them. Don't really see an easy solution.

Seen wolves up in hunter's range a few years ago, and caribou tracks... Also seen caribou & tracks up in trout lake area, right up over the top of one of the mountains where we were ... Incredible...
