Re: Y2Y Founder & Shannon Phillips public meeting to discuss more trail closures..

I got a small taste of the NDP indifference to voters two weeks ago when I sent an email to "back bencher" Thomas Dang about him wanting to get rid of daylight savings. This guy isn't even old enough to know anything about real life and he is tabling a bill that directly affects my business by abolishing daylight savings, which is a great system by the way, considering I work outdoors during the winter and need the daylight in the morning...but I digress...I told him it was a terrible idea in a very polite way and I got a response back a week later that thanked me for supporting his bill....? A little frustrating to say the least. Thank goodness for NHL hockey, apparently that's more important than every Albertan who works outside for a living

So I wonder if Y2Y went to Pincher while they were visiting and set up a surprise?

I saw it on the news. It takes a real sicko to do something like that.

I hope the rider is ok, that's what really counts.

That is a spine-less act on someone's part.

I hope that bad karma falls on the person(s) that attributed too this.

Don at hoping for full recovery too the fellow rider.

Keep your eyes open everyone !!!

I hate tree hugers it's not enough that they have the government on their side and are having our recreation shutdown now they are trying to kill us for enjoying our sport. The people that did this are the type of people the NDP are working with to "manage" Alberta crown land

Re: Y2Y Founder & Shannon Phillips public meeting to discuss more trail closures..

found this from a news article last fall:

An Alberta environmental group says a recent survey shows strong public support for creating a new provincial park in the Bighorn area west of Rocky Mountain House.

A poll done last month for the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative found 83 per cent of Edmonton respondents back the idea, as do 68 per cent of people living near the area.

There's already about 5,000 square kilometres of provincial public land in the Bighorn Backcountry along the eastern borders of Jasper and Banff national parks, but Yellowstone to Yukon wants to roughly double the district's protected space.

"What we're actually proposing to government is something significantly larger than what's in the public land use zoning," says Stephen Legault, a program director for the Canmore-based non-profit group.

Other organizations such as the Alberta Wilderness Association also support a Bighorn park.

The expanded region would give a major boost to Environment and Parks Minister Shannon Phillips' goal announced last winter to protect 17 per cent of Alberta's natural landscape by 2020, Legault says.

Legault would like to see the park expand the current Bighorn boundaries east of Forestry Trunk Road 734, protecting the headwaters of the North Saskatchewan River as well as important habitat for grizzly bears, cougars, bighorn sheep and other animals.

I think you'll find that it really is B.S.. They likely targeted a very specific demographic. Their sampling size may have only been a handful of people. The survey was likely very similar in nature to the one they released for Castle - very one sided and incomplete. Etc, etc, etc.....

Re: Y2Y Founder & Shannon Phillips public meeting to discuss more trail closures..

We are slowly getting sucked into this foolish idea that the NDP will listen to the public and make informed decisions. Nothing could be further from the truth !
They have an agenda and are happy to force it on anyone who disagrees with them ... ( bill 6 carbon tax etcetc)
We would be better served to refocus are efforts on removing them from power ... forever .
That would send a clear message to the NDP & and also Y2Y that it is political suicide too follow the Y2Y agenda ...
That way we are not having this debate every 4 years ...
They ( NDP ) have done a good job of diverting us off of what should be our plan , booting them out ...
The incident with Phillips only goes to show there concern is to get reelected !
That is why she is doing favours for the green agenda ! They will support her (& NDP) next election , both financially & in the media ..
Meanwhile we are writing letters to that get thrown in the garbage can ...
Think about it ..
It's pretty clear what's taking place .

I would also like to add that in no way is this to disrespect the tremendous amount of time and effort put in by a lot of hard working people to keep ares open . A huge shout out to them all ...
Simply it is meant that this is bigger than riding areas , it is a massive media push & agenda to motivate the green voter and help reelect the NDP . They know that they will never get our votes / but they also know they will get huge Financial backing & political favours from the growing green movement ...

This is what there agenda is / it is much bigger that some atv trails ....
