not sure if others have this prob but my 09 every time is -10 or colder recoil slips .also cold weather and it leaks antifreeze on deck.:(

Sounds like the grease on yur recoil is gettin to thick to let the dogs fly out. You could pull it and remove any excess or change to a winter grease. It's an easy pull off to check. You should find that coolant leak asap. It shouldn't leak at all, unless it boils over.:beer:

ya will try that .as far as the leak have tried to find it since new .only seams to leak cold.am always adding coolant.and this thing always runs hot.if not in deep stuff then scratchers always down or else.

I had the same thing happen once, but I could never find the leak?
Freaked me out and I rode most of last year with a small bottle of coolant, just in case.

Note to everyone: don't drink out of the green gatorade bottle strapped to my rear rack.

the coolant leak you are speaking of comes from top hose where it connects to the front cooler. its a biotch to fix but dooable without removing the engine. simply slip a new clamp over it and tighten it up

maxwell is correct, my 09 did this constantly until the engine was out. just do to a bad clamp...no worries

Thanks. It was a bit of a freak out in the parking lot, seeing green running out from under the seat to the back of the tunnel.
It didn't seem to happen for the rest of the year, just one day during that cold snap last november or december.

Another good one for the list would be the Grip and Rip braces. We have found the front ends of these things to be pretty soft. Good peace of mind if you ever find a hidden treasure under the snow. Changing a nun on an XP is not what i would call a good time.

Has anyone smoked a rock with these braces? I'm thinking somthing has to give. I did my nun and my E module this year and I agree it wasn't fun. But it was $495 for parts took three evenings to get it back together.(and I don't know what I'm doing:p) If I had the braces I'm scared what will break? I worry that it will move the damage into the bulkhead or worse tweak the tunnel? If it rips off the A Arm and wreaks the shock I think it will be worse $$$?

exactly. id like to hear some more input on these braces.

skidoo did design this chassis with very complex software and im sure throwing some heavy duty braces at it may not be the solution?

new programming for the E-TEC

warranty bulletin has been released today (12-22-2010) for 2011 Summit 800R E-TEC models operated above 4000ft / 1200m which offers new, improved calibration for 2011 Summit 800R E-TEC models used at altitude (not sea-level vehicles).

Under certain conditions, engines may miss or hesitate under quick throttle application at mid-range RPMs. The condition will be more noticeable if the clutching is not dialed in correctly and the maximum recommended engine RPMs of 7900-8000 is exceeded.

ECM software will be updated as per the bulletin. To have the update installed under 2011 warranty, see any authorized Ski-Doo dealer.

To clarify some points of the bulletin, it is not a mandatory warranty update but a 2011 product refinement developed for the most extreme 2011 Summit 800R E-TEC riders where the vehicle is being used under heavy load at altitudes above 4000 ft / 1200 m.

It further refines the response of the engine if an over-rev occurs. It does not simply raise the rev-limit. The maximum operating RPM remains the same at 7900-8000. The update can also be performed during or outside the break in period and has no effect on maximum horsepower. Engines are not being de-tuned in any way. All NEW 2011 Summit 800R E-TEC vehicles are receiving this calibration update at predelivery as well.

I have a 09 xp 800 and it bogged at 6500 rpms .took it to a dealer they had it for 1 1/2 months. cleaned the carbs 3 times nothing helped . finaly they replace the dpm and it ran fine for 400 kms.Took it out last weekend for the first time. ran ok for 25kms and then acted up the same as last year:mad: any one had issues with the dpm???? ..

if you smoke a rock or such real hard, braces won't help that much, they will definitely help in smaller impacts as will aftermarket a arms that are strong, lighter and usually break before tunnel. a arms are usually easier to replace.

anyone have rave valves break?

yes this was a change in 2008. some have the new valve and some had the weak valve.

check to ensure your valve has a 908 stamped on it.

part# for new valves is 420854908
