XM radio...listen to this crap

So I bought the 2010 GM in Oct 2010...got free XM until Jan 1, 2011. I've heard the horror stories about how XM likes to keep charging your CC after the vehicle is gone or you have cancelled the service....so when I get the offer to subscribe, I mail a cheque. Paid full bore (no deals) plus an extra 20 bucks because they WANT your CC number and are trying to discourage cheques. Anyways....I got no offer to renew other than a threatening e-mail that stated "the CC we have on file has been rejected, bla, bla, bla...and to avoid legal action, please update your account immediately". I'm thinking, "reaaaaaallllllyyyyy?" So about Jan 2 or 3...the XM goes dead in the truck and I figure that's it. I get a call from a collections agency tonight saying I owe XM 150+- bucks and bla bla bla!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy shytballs batman! Is this really how these ##$& earn your business? So now I have a call into XM to dispute the bill.....I'm sure I will hold my breath that they will call back.

Any other XM horror stories? Any happy endings possible? I'm thinking of being proactive and threatening to sue them in Red Deer court for defamation of character....make their lawyers make the trip....

The trick to cheap sattelite sevice is to let your subcription almost run out then threaten to cancel it.I have been doing this for the last 4 yrs with XM now sirius and I always pay half price but you have to do it every year.Never pay full bore and only renew for the dicounted year.You can also google Cheap sirius renewel canada for add advice.

Oh wow. Never heard that before, kinda sounds like telus to me. I just got XM raido for my tractor and so far so good, but I tell ya if anything like that starts happening to me I'm gonna raise chit and make them regret it. I'd say do what you godda do to keep your money

I had it happen to me to Dave...The pricks somehow renewed it w/o my consent..i let them know i wasnt happy...i dont have xm anymore..It sucks anyway,,allways cut out on me even in town here..

They did that to me to, with two radios. Told collections to go fawk themselves and good luck putting it on my credit. They eventually stopped and nothing ever came of it. The radio is horrible I might listen to it if it was free but that's it.

When I bought a new chev colorado back in 06 i think i had the dealer put in a aftermarket xm radio and gave them my CC, well for the first 6-8 months i was getting double billed every month. i blew a fuse, and talk about a fawking head ache to get them to correct it. I mean i printed visa statements, sent them, and they kept denying it and blah blah, finally i reported my card stolen and never renewed it with them. i found sirius was better to deal with, i know they are merged now though

The Canadian merger is still in progress...

I have had great luck with Sirius as well...have 2 subs going right now. every time I call they are courteous and nearly always give me extra free time just for being patient on hold or something.... I'll tell ya, I'll tear the dash apart and install an ugly aftermarket deck before I subscribe XM again.

the radio show that i listen too say they have the same issues in the states when they try to add/delete/pay etc...

Have Sirius and had to got a new credit card. New expiry and three numbers on the back. Still charged through some how. Sneaky bougers.

I paid a year sub once with Sirius and ended up having it for 4 years without another payment ha! great deal, musta forgot about lil ol me....XM SSSSSSUX

Wow that's bs, I just cancelled a credit card because of some Microsoft game charge my kids must have signed up, appreciate the thread I guess I better try to cancel it again rather than risk a collections or credit rating tick.

XM threatened credit hit on me to when they sent it to collections, but they can't. They automatically renewed it, even though I told them not to. I would try to solve it, but if you can't I wouldn't loose any sleep over it. If it's already been charged on credit card you can reverse the charges. They are not allowed to do collections or anything on reversed charges.

Sirius was always cool to deal with on the phone, for a while their call center was just outside of Sydney Nova Scotia so I'd always have a chat with the ladies working there about home. Last time I called they moved the call center to Egypt, service was still good though.
