I have a 06 Xfire 6, have done minor thing to change it. MBRP can, and extended it to a 144, 2" challenger. What are some other, fairly inexpensive ideas, to get some more power from it? Thanks in advance.. :d

What size track did it have originally 136? I have a C8 136" 1.6 and was wanting to take it to 153 just wondering if i would need to change anything besides skid?

Mine came with the stock 136 x 1.25 ripsaw. All I did was buy a set of rail extensions, new sliders and thats it. But I had the dealer install it as I dont know anything about diamond drives. Just needs more power and cant afford a new sled. :d

What was the total cost involved ballpark?

I had the track, and bought the rail extensions and sliders before hand. You and others may fall over when I tell you what I was charged but I paid just under $700. I thought it was a bit crazy but had no choice. I have done track swaps on older CATS with chain drives and it was no problem, but like I said. I know NOTHING about DD and didnt want to screw it up. When I got the bill, I almost passed out. :d

Thanks man, I am also not to familar with DD but read some other threads on here some guys say its not too bad. What would a track run a guy round 800+/- and how about rail extensions? There is always guys that will tell you you got hosed and they got there's done for less not me though. In the end you can sleep at night knowin it was done right.

Yes, knowing it was done right is nice. But NEVER AGAIN, LOL. The rail extensions cost me about $130, new green sliders $60 I think, maybe a bit more. The track I got used, traded an old summit hood for it. GREAT deal for me..I've seen some 153 tracks on KIJIJI pretty cheap, theres one on there right now and rails for $500, was thinking of them for myself but funds are tight right now. :d

Do you think rail extensions from 136 to 153 would be too much maybe too weak?

If they even make them. I would think they would be weak. And for the $130 give or take, better off going with the ones on KIJIJI.
The rails were $100 and the track was $400, I think thats a smokin deal. :d

I put a 1.5 timing key ($23)and a bdx intake ($180) on my 06 600.seems to have WAY better throttle response not sure how much more i will get out of it on the top end, haven't tested it that much as we dont have enough snow yet. in the process of putting a freedom axle kit ($160) on and installing the 8" wheels to get more track speed.

In my head
There is not much that can be done to the 600's. A pipe maybe. Black Magic had the best pipe for this sled but alas they are gone. Let it breath some, needs to get more air....bigger intake, modification of existing intake tract and box. Not much to be gained from an aftermarket head. Cat had the head doen right for the 600. You check the squish to make sure it's nice and tight at spec. Get the heat out of the engine compartment, especially near the primary. Lots of heat transfersd from the engine to the primary effecting clutching. Speaking of clutching...these DD's are finacky, try and anil down the clutching. Get belt to sheave at about 0.040 with weights off the rollers about 0.006 I think (can't remember what I did, would have to measure). If you go with a timing key, be careful if you go with a pipe too, might go to lean. Monitor your oil consumption and if high get it back to about 50:1. Many of the earlier Crossfires were heavy on the oil affecting performance.

Just a couple ideas.
