Wrong belt?

Was doing 140 down a straight stretch and my belt came apart. Put a belt off an arctic cat (only one I had in the shop for a spare) and with it on the clutch won't disengage and takes 8,000 rpm to do 60 k. Looks like it fits nice but performs like crap. Picking up a new, proper belt tonight but just wanted your thoughts. Thanks

I'm thinking that too. My dad says too short but I'm just hoping it's not serious

If it's take that rpm to do 60 it's to long or to narrow. Or there's some old belt stuck in the clutches. Buy 2 of the proper belts so you have the correct spare

What does it matter ? Put the correct belt on it , after you properly clean the clutches ...
Of course it won't run normally with the wrong belt on it ....

Could be your clutch is fried! Them cheap yamaha clutches can only take a couple blown belts then they have to be replaced!

So what is your question? You want our thoughts on putting in the wrong belt? I agree buy two belts. Clean everything out properly, install the right belt and do the proper break in. Swap that belt out as the spare and put the second belt it and break it in. Not sure why you are asking our opinions?

Did you not find out the effects of the wrong belt by installing the wrong belt???

I also wanna know based on the information I provided whether or not the belt was too long, too short, etc. Or if it could be the right belt, and my clutches be shot. As to me it seems to fit pretty well

Again. This is an easy thing to figure out. Grab the wrong belt. Put it over top of the correct belt. See with your eye balls which one is longer that can also tell you which one is shorter. No one on here is going to be able to tell you which one is shorter or longer.

Belts run at such tight tolerance and angles & length . Until you install the correct belt ... Why would you expect it to work ?

This isn't a belt around your tummy .... Fit pretty well does not cut it on a cvt.
And no one is picking on you , but we can't understand what you are trying to achieve .... Irregardless of the condition of your primary & secondary, you will ultimately need the correct belt !

Did you try running it with no belt? Does it make a lot of noise and smoke and not move? Im curious to know the effects of no belt, LOL
The primary clutch will smash together and probably cause some damage. It's definitely not going to move. "LOL"

Km. New belt is on. Squeaks a bit at idle, clutches spin constantly on the stand. Take it off the stand and it idles really low as if it's under load trying to move but not enough to actually move the sled. Seems like the clutch is always engaged. No problems before the belt went
