I saw a kick ass matte black wrapped Escalade and I thought my Denali would look AWESOME if I wrapped it.

Is it worth it? Has anyone done it? Any insight would be so appreciated!

Matte Black is expensive, in the range of around $70 per yard of material, which your installer will then mark up 20-30%. Then you have to pay your installer, which a good one will charge you right around $55 an hour and a wrap would take roughly three days on a Denali. Also matte black is incredibly hard to install, something as simple as brushing your pants up against it when you're wrapping it can create marks in the vinyl which will show up in the sunlight, and it's worth noting you'd likely only get around 3-4 years out of the wrap as the black fades faster in the sun than other colors. All together a matte black wrap on a vehicle of that size (for a quality job) you'd be right around the 4-5G range.

I'd second the plastidip remark, you can have great results for around $350 if you're spraying it through a gun.

This is a picture of my buddies bagged GTI Plastidipped military green all last winter, it was durable enough that he could take the scrub brush in the car wash too it. All together he was right around $400 when it was done.

I guess I should also mention that if your Denali is already black you could hit it with some 2000 grit sandpaper and just cloud the clearcoat and then when you've had enough just buff it with a good wax and buffer and the shine comes right back.

It is already gloss black, it's all blacked out, windows tinted etc. I hate gloss black, I can't keep it clean. Doesn't matter what I do. We live on a gravel road, and though I know it's to be expected, it's always looking dusty. EVERY time I look at it I scratch the dang clear coat too. :(

I'd considered painting it, but then resale might be affected when I do decide to sell.

What I'd REALLY like to do is trade it on a new '14 in diamond white. MrFatale doesn't quite agree. LOL

I've done a few wraps on vehicles. There alot of fun. But the cost is all labour. The biggest draw back is on trucks is the rocks near wheel wells and front face of the vehicle. You should get 3-4 years out of it and any damaged pieces can be replaced through time. Any questions p.m. me
