Any updates on the ride from Coal Creek staging area to the Cabin. Do you have to go through rolling hills, or can you ride pass the yellow gates on trail, then carry onto cabin or is there logging activity. Is the rolling hills marked to get to pipeline? Just wanted to get an update on the status of things. Thanks!

If you are talking about the yellow gates on the back side of the Coal Creek summit, that just leads to the plowed road which is illegal to ride on.

If you take the short cut, instead of going around the summit, into the Hills there is an orange flagged trail (someone has been removing the flags so you may have a little trouble finding the trail but they all pretty much lead to the same place) veering off to the left. There are two entrances to the plowed logging road.

One trail comes out below the cabin on the McEvoy FSR and the other comes out above the cabin on the McEvoy summit. Both require a short ride on the plowed road (not recommended).

We are still looking (have to admit that through Xmas volunteers were hard to find) for a 90 degree crossing of the logging road and then on to the cabin. One of these days it will be done.

I know it isn't a lot of help but there is not much else to doo......

We rode in from the Yellow gates on the Corbin Side on Jan 11, here is a pic of the rolling hills, and one into Secret Valley.
We found the two trails through the rolling hills that drop onto the plowed road. The grader just happened to be there when we got there. with all the snow piling up on the side, its getting harder to get on and off the plowed road with a snow mobile. We walked down the road to see how far one has to go to access Wranglers Cabin. Came up on some blind corners and realized there was no way to notice an approaching logging truck. At this time, I would not recommend traveling the logging road...not to mention the fine.
Hopefully we can get a trail so we only have to cross the logging road if they are going to be logging for 4 years.
Thank You FSA for flagging the trail in the Rolling Hills!
